Even I'm also using a Kerala sim here in Karnataka. You have to e-recharge with Rs.274/- and MO will be activated on next-day before 7pm.

I live in himachal and am using airtel prepaid. I have been using spartan's method for some time now but recently i have been getting the error 'your network settings do not allow you to request this url' and sometimes 'packet data connection not available'. My handset is a nokia n72 and use opera mobile. My settings are as follows: apn airtelfun.com (although i changed it to airtelgprs.com), proxy 100.1.200.99, port no 8080. I can neither connect through my mobile nor laptop. And by the way, is gtel also a part of airtel? And what is nop? Please help me out. I will repeatedly keep checkin this thread for replies. Really hope someone will reply. Thanks in advance
