@ihe: I wonder how smooth the video calls will be. As for me, i already have a Multilinks fixed line and Starcomms mobile. Glo Fixed have lost me there.

Glo Fixed sounds like a good idea, but what will their initial coverage be like? Remember the way 1st wireless started, almost everyone I knew bought their lines, but couldn't use them outsite of the Island. There is still no coverage in my house at Gbagada. Ditto for Reltel.
Except of course, Glo can intergate cdma with their gsm network. (I'm assuming they are contemplating fixed wireless as against wireline)

@amby: i don't see coverage being a problem for Glo Fixed. glo has the gateway, has the bulk carrier and everything else. its just a matter of setting up CDMA modules on existing base stations, plus a few other technicalities.

glofixed will not sell if it's wired cos Nigerians are only interested in wireless now..

btw, with the pace at which glo is moving, it won't be long b4 they become number one GSM in Nigeria, I wonder where they get all the cash from?

They are always moving into new things everyday..

@Ihe: you haven't told us exactly where you work. I'm begining to suspect that MB isn't the only glo spy here.
@Aya: It all sounds easy in theory, but considering that CDMA and GSM are different platforms, the only facilities that can be shared on existing base stations are the mast and power generators. New CDMA BSC's have to be installed. Take a look at most base stations around Lagos, how many of them have enough space to accomodate a second unit?
