it is true that hutch might get banned in india ?
hutchison is controlled by pakistan based company

and there has been news that hutch jammed their network mints before the blast in mumbai

To comment on your third (and last) sentence first- it sounds more like the Old Wifes' tale.. a friend of friend of friend kind of tale... "mints before the blast in mumbai" I was on a phone call & even during the "perverted minds creation- the blasts".. It was thru an Incoming call that I came to know of what had happened.. I did manage to make out calls.. I use Hutch networks' SIM/s
========
Youav got the things slightly mixed up or shall I say mis-understood..

This is all old common place things for those in the know... (rest of em could easily Google up the same.. or read on)

Ours is a country where FDI (& even Foreign Indirect Investment) in Telecom is vehemently regulated & so fancies of Politicians apart, there are Communications Ministry, Defence Ministry, Department of Legal Affairs, FIPB etc etc etc & many more etcetera's to deal with..
(Refer: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1502784.cms )
Lemme add- Telecom "AND" Print/ Electronic Media are vehemently regulated.

So its less of being banned, but more an issue of Techno Legal issues

In so far as I know Orascom has a minority stake in HTIL, and that Orascom is an "Egypt Headquatered company"

Hutchison Whampoa along wid others had to float HTIL- Hutchison Telecommunications International Ltd as an holding company (among many others) of HEL- Hutchison Essar Ltd.. the later of the three whose integrity might be most releavnt to us (you?)

Orascom Telecom aquired HWL's (Hutchison Whampoa Limted) 19.3% stake in HTIL (as in.. it owns 19.3 in HTIL)
=================================
Orascom had strategic interest in going in for this:

Orascom Telecom operates in Pakistan, Bangladesh.. among others countries
Hutch Whampoa operates in India ,Sri Lanka.. among others countries

It was an intelligent thing on both OT & HW's part to increase foot print

Just like us(you?), people in Europe must be eyeing a certain Steel Baron with suspicion, .. Mr Mittal if you know him

Orascom is an Egyptian company, with some subsidiary having ops in Pakistan, thats all
================================
This all happend around calender year 2005 end, so my memory fails me..
wait .. I found out the break up of Hutch Essar/ HELs papa mummy

Essar Group - 33%
Hutch Whampoa - 26.5%
Orascom Telecom - 10.3%
Analjit Singh & TII - 8.3% (TII izz Telecom Investments India)
Hinduja's - 5.1%
HTIL's Public holding - 16.4% (That is stake of aam junta in HELs Parent company HTIL)

So this-> "..hutchison is controlled by pakistan based company
.." - I doubt.. coz Orascom or any other of these arent Pakistan based
=======================
Had these contravAArsial things been sorted out sooner.. I'd av held to my Bharti Teli Ventures investment longer (due to Arun Sarin headed Vodaphone too joining SingTel in owning Airterl.. these things became major issue back then)..

Anyway, thou I entered early enough in Bharti Tele (Airtel is just the brand name- company name is Bharti Tele) I had reached my target price & sold..

More so out of these very Governmental concerns that "desh ki sensitive bijnis ko foren owned kaise hone de".. but loyal Airtel users like Whizzy, Maddy & so many others.. coupled with enogh money from all biggie stake holders( http://www.rediff.com/money/2005/oct/31spec2.htm ).. Bharti prooved its mettle on the bourses
(I still like to believe the version- that its prices were jacked up by punters & Foreign Investors acting on the behest of SingTel etc & those very people leaked the Airtel wap hacks to al you Airtel users.. grrrr.. damn you Whizzy ... shoulav told me before that u'd use airtel this much.. I'd nevah have sold on it)
