Hi Mr Smith...here's details about the latest firmware available in SA courtesy of GBrooks.

Quote:
R2AY004
- Released by DaVinci on 24/5/05
- Released to Service Centres around 10/6/05
- Rolled out on SEUS in July 05
- Currently no reported changes from R2AT
- JBenchmark 1: 2419
- JBenchmark 2: 127
LCD: 200406041
Camera: 3.10
ITP: CXC 125 813 R1T

It's available at Vodacare...that's where I'm getting my phone fixed tommorrow for free because it's still under warranty. Normal price would be in the region of R180.

I don't think there's a Vodacare in Oudshoorn...you'll probably have to ship it to Cape Town...or else you can do it yourself by going to Sony Ericsson's Update Service on their website...a couple of people on here have done it but if your not cool with al things technical leave it in the hands of the experts.

On Saturday I sent some games to my K700 via BT.

It should be easy...download file from location...make sure BT dongle is inserted in USB port...pair the PC with your phone...make sure that Visibility is switched to "Show Phone"...now you're ready to send all sorts of files to your phone...right click on chosen file...choose the option send to BT device...your phone will prompt you to accept the file, yes, and it should now be sending the chosen jar file to your phone. Once downloaded your can either save the file in the Applications or Games folder..it's all up to you.

Hope you come right. BTW, I'm using a X-Micro Bluetooth 2 dongle.

@Mr Smith: I don't get you. It might be that you're trying to download a non-campatible file like .jad if so the phone will automatically store in the game in the "Other" folder. I've encountered problems where games that are supposed .jar wouldn't save in the Games or Apps folder. You might want to check out this site which has got loads of games all working perfectly on the K700.

What BT device are you using?

@ Kryptik,
Do you mean '3' network branding on the K700?
If this is so,then some people have plonked a 3 sticker on themselves, because '3' only have 3G handsets,as their name implies, thus have never stocked any non-3G handsets.

Yep, it's certainly odd in that in both instances i saw the 3branding it was at Cash Crusaders. On the third occasion it was at a local cellshop. Will find out its provenance when i return. Even stranger, all 3 were K700i.

Somebody's running a scam, methinks...

Thanx boet, will definitely have a look. Currently listening to Prof. Louis Fourie of Stellenbosch University Business School explaining how Mxit works, and its use as a business tool. He quite heavily punts the opinion that its as good as Agile Messenger, to the extent that it's gone from a small local app to worldwide must-have status. Apparently more than 5million messages are sent daily via the app. Not shabby at all, i think... I wonder which percentage of gprs/3G earnings it generates for the networks.
