it gets the 2.x as well.. it's not software it's the hardware that doesn't support it..

I think though the X10 is a good phone, it's being released a little too late with a few key features missing.
After seeing HTC EVO 4G, or even Desire for that matter, it is hard to decide to buy X10, even though I am a strong Sony Ericsson fan.

Hi everyone, I've been following this thread from the beginning & I've been anxious to get the X10a when I get back to Ontario Canada in May. While reading on Wiki regarding differences/limitations of the various Android SW revisions, I came accros a feature that alot of people are complaining that's missing. Voice Activated Dialing (VAD) & specifically Bluetooth Headset VAD. I've had this with all my SE smartphones including my current P990i. In Ontario, as of January 2010 it is illegal to use your phone while driving, thus making it a deal breaker for me to buy the X10 if it doesn't offer this basic feature. I've noticed that SE also didn't offer VAD in the Satio which I decided not to buy because of various shortfalls. Is the lack of VAD a S60/Android limitation or doesn't anyone at SE think it's a necessary feature anymore especially since all the new laws requiring totally hands free mobile phone use while driving. I can live with many features missing on X10 but I do need VAD!

I still can't believe that X10 hardware is not capable of multi touch... I really had a faith in SE... Multi touch is even available on G1!!! (not directly of course)

what's this about deceit? when did SE ever advertise or claim that the X10 was multi-touch or will be multi-touch? This was based on assumptions and rumor. And just like crabman said.. N1 and desire are only dual-touch. NOT multi-touch... so i guess google and HTC are deceivers too? hmmm...
I feel this is, at the very least, a lie of omission. Letting everyone assume that the lack of multitouch was a software issue is unfair. People will and have bought the X10 on that assumption.
Dual touch is by def multitouch IMO; I have no problems with google or HTC (who delivered DT on hero).
I guess I'm over exagerating this but I guess it comes with gadget tunnel vision. I'll have to tell my coworkers, friends that this phone can't perform a function that has become almost expected on smartphones now. LOL.
^^SE needs to put out a statement. I, for one, am still waiting.

Funny thing that anyone is so keen on mult-touch (or dual touch whatever you wanna call it). Ok, it might help a bit when typing fast. But what else is the use of it? Pan to zoom? That might look nice, but is completely useless imo. Dubble tap zooming is far more convinent and in the verry few cases you need another zoom niveau, you can use the + and - keys, which works a bit less simple than panning, but is far more precise and you won't use it much anyway

It's for fast typing and applications that need multiple simultaneous or fast inputs. It has nothing to do with zooming really.
