technically speaking, The adapter MUST has DAC inside because phone send digital data through USB and convert to analog (sound wave) using DAC then passing it to headphones/headsets.
But if the staff meant that there is no premium grade DAC inside, maybe true.
As I know this one is the example for adapter that doesn't have a DAC inside.

We still need someone to disassemble SONY's adapter to see the inside. The staff who give me the information have not see the inside yet. He just ask his colleague for me.

6GB of RAM should be perfectly adequate. Sure some other phones might have 8 but that's alright. S845 is expected as there won't be a better option, unless Qualcomm releases a mid-year refresh or something. 80% STB puts it about 4% higher than the XZ2, so that's perfectly fine IMO. Dual camera... there's a lot of hope riding on that camera, so let's see how it performs.
Sad if it's an IFA launch as we'll have to wait so long. Oh well.

Some companies used the Type-C port to send Analog audio directly, then the USB consortium created a standard for analog audio using Type-C.. that's why some phones with Type-C only support specific Type-C headphones.. noticeably some HTC phones...

This cut makes screen more expensive, even more if it is oled.

I didn't find that report. The image is too blur to read the ID.
