There is nothing wrong with tweaking a photo to make it look better. On this one I played with the levels and contrast, and added a vignette. Thanks for the compliments.
GIMP or any photo editor cannot take a crappy photo and save it. It must have good sharpness and resolution before it can be enhanced. Also, a good photo starts with a good composition, quality of camera is second in line to what you point it at.
