Thanks WelshTom, but i was with T-mobile for a few years and the reception at my house was unusable, i had to lean against a window to make calls!
I don't use the web too much on the phone so hopefully the cost won't be too much.

@Jah: OK cool! Thanks.

Am still trying to get hold of a comprehansive review, article, whatever of the TyTN. Even thier official site only has 3 pathetic 1 page pdf files.

Anyone know of a decent review where someone has gone through the paces with the TyTN (or failing that some detail it, showing screen grabs of UI, etc)

The USB 1.1 does not sound too good on the TyTN IMO. Are there other ways of docking/sync with PC other that USB?

Just found fairly decent video walkthrough of TyTN http://mobilitytoday.com/articles/htctytn_first_look.html

mmmm, not that sure if I want to move away from P990i.

I bet the p990i has not got the screen alignment issue.

Mine is really bad and enoying the more i play with it.

When i use the first half of the on screen keyboard, it works fine, but when i use the second half, the alignment is out. ie when you want to delete a word, i have to select =.

I tried the re-alignment and still the same issue.

masseur, and others, is yours the same?

Now, when i try doing a screen alignment, it now keeps doing it in a endless loop, i cant get out of it.

this thread has come along way and it sways towards the TyTN one day and then towards the P990 the next day

Are you suggesting we're a fickle bunch?

Its interesting to see people come out with the same sad old statements about windows mobile devices and I feel alot of these comments come from people who have not really experienced the WM devices to their full potential.

Yeah, you can really tell when people talk about these devices without ever having used them before. I have no idea where the whole "Windows Mobile is very unstable and needs resets" thing has come from - from my experience I'd say it is very stable indeed, and the only real issues I've ever seen is conflicts with third party software. I'm sure half the people who complain about Windows Mobile would lap it up if SE ever produced a Windows Mobile device.

I certainly don't want people to get a WM because I happen to like them. They suit me and my way of working but this may not be true of others.

Quite agree, which I guess is why a number of us have gone for both devices in order to make an informed personal decision ourselves.

yup i would definately be the 1st to lap up a SE wm5 phone... I have to stress that quality compared to SE/Nokia, etc HTC have a long way still & after the being fooled by the atom...no htc/quanta for me atleast.

regarding 990 bugs well all & literally all the smart devices have had hiccups atleast till 1/2 months of firmware updates to stabilize...

I'd suggest you return yours for a replacement it is clearly faulty. In fact any Hermes based device with a screen alignment issue is faulty.

Incidently what is the serial number of your device? I'd heard that some earlier devices did have this problem but it was fixed in devices with more recent serial numbers.

its believed that TyTN with serial starting HT630 (as mine was) do not have the alignment problem (mine didn't)

I'm wait for a replacement and will be checking the serial as the first priority

Bad screen is one thing..bad keyboard is another
My first device suffered form both and was replaced.

My second one is faultless in terms of hardware, but had to update firmware as there was a problem with it not reading the number of people sending me messages (thats why i was going crazy about the firmware masseur!)
The serial number of the good one is HTC 627 etc....

sounds like further proof that people should watch for the HT630 or later ones...
