Is the USB in file transfer mode or in phone mode?

AM I RIGHT IN THINKING....
This firmware (FW) is no good for my O2 branded P990i?
If not, could anyone advise how I could get the O2 FW.
I have heard such branded FW's come out shortly after, but how would i know?
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Firmware finally done. Took an hour. Only 20 mins last time round? So don't know what it was doing copying one ROM image? Which I presume it should be doing!!
Very slow on first boot. Selected language and got hour glass whereupon nothing else happened. Battery out, reboot, back to langauge screen this time only the selected language displayed (uk english) this time left hourglass for a good few minutes, and eventually it went to phone on screen. Probably me just being impatient. I am guessing it must load every langauge on, being WW Generic, then delete the ones not needed after?
So far so good though. I hope to see some improvements, including those mentioned here. I imagine a lot are behind the scenes changes. There are many things we'd still like to see I'm sure, but if we can get better stability now then hopefully we can get greater functionality and tweaks in the next update.

So, by my count:
/1
/2
/4
Are upgradable; any other revisions? This is so I know when purchasing one to get the 'right' one

can anyone confirm if they have managed to get Sky By Mobile working after their upgrade? Mine times out when accessing the TV guide over wifi and gprs/3g. It used to be fine before I upgraded.

This is happening to me as we speak. I was just about to take the battery out when I read your post!
First impressions:
- Bootup is definitely faster
- When entering your PIN, each digit is revealed on the screen as you press it, and only changes to an asterisk when you press the next one! This only used to happen when entering the first digit of the PIN - it now seems even less secure
- Moving around the menus is smoother and feels like less effort, although loading applications doesn't seem to be that much quicker.

the slow first boot has always been there. I remember when I first got the P990 and turned it on and went through this startup. I was walking up the road away from the shop I bought it from and I was already heading back to the shop assuming there was some problem. Just as I got to the shop it came to life and all was well.
The M600 suffers the same long first start after firmware flash too
