On Hong Kong they probably only sell localized versions, probably even with chinese firmware.
You can later update the phone to other firmware, but I'm not sure how legal is that and if voids warranty.

Yeah.. it depends on the cda (custom data area). Anyone with a HK cda who could choose anything else than chinese on the first boot? Or who had everything from dutch to russian available as secondary language, like the other cdas? (As far as I understand it, HK and Singapore CDAs come with simplified or traditional chinese font support - but that's not available to the other areas as an add- on, so it could be there are more differences between the cdas than it seems.)

I have used chinese spec phones and they can always do English so see no reason why Swedish couldn't be installed...

I had the Singapore Trade version and it does not accept language files (at least for Italian)
Best way is to change it to WG1 unless you need Chinese characters

No I don't need the chinese language, I only want Swedish language and maybe english as well.. U think that there is a way that this can be done? U said something about changing it to WG1? What does this mean?
If I change to WG1, then can i change the language to Swedish?

I live in Hong Kong and I use the localised P1i here.

Basically it runs the Hong Kong firmware so there's only traditional Chinese and English for menu dialogues. If you want Swedish support, you've got to flash it with XS++ or davinci or something.

In Sony Ericsson Hong Kong (choose english), under product support, they offer language files for the P1i. Not sure if there's Swedish though...

I have now checked SE Hong Kong site and there are two languagepacks that you can download that include Swedish, but it also says that:

"NOTE!
The files are intended for P1i organiser software version: CXC162108 R6D23"

and the other languagepack, which also includes Swedish says:

"NOTE!
The files are intended for P1i organiser software version: CXC162108 R6E30"

How do I know which version the phone that I am buying have?

Gunnut: Could you somehow check and see if your phone is running on either of these two organiser software version?

If I can't manage to find a phone that is running on either of these organizer software versions, is there a way that I somehow can flash the phone to WG1 or some other region and then update the languagepack?

Seems that alot of people prefer the phone region to be WG1? How come? Is it because the firmware is updated more freequently than other regions? What happens to the phone's warranty if I would flash it to for instance WG1?

Guys,
I have finally upgraded to the new firmware. The thing I'm missing after changing CDA to WG-1 is the Wayfinder Navigator download shortcut from the icons. How am I able to put the Wayfinder software again onto my P1? I bought the phone in a bundle with a GPS and Wayfinder Navigator was also in some sort of preinstalled state on my original firmware (/92 Sweden).
Do you know?

Thanks

Not sure, but I think it just points to http://getwf.com

@bnet:
The d23 was the organiser version in the first firmware, and the e30 was the next. The current firmware is f41. So.. if you buy the p1 now, it'll come with either of the two first versions. And then.. you could just wait with the firmware upgrade until the language pack for f41 is available. (..Just in case the dudes over at SE managed to make the newest firmware available before the language pack..)

You'll have to change the CDA to one where the Wayfinder suite was included (like the sweden one) and update again. It's either this (most recent version of fw but without the customized apps) or that (customized apps but wait a bit longer for firmware) unfortunately.

Isn't it somehow possible to read out the registration information or something from the sweden wayfinder version, download it for the W1 firmware and use that reg info?
