Just FYI, Vodafone K700i seem also now to be able to be upgraded online since yesterday to R2N001.
Just tried with mine with the usual result

Anyone else managed to get R2N001 on Voda UK?

Excellent!!! I've just managed to toast my Orange UK K700...
bought a DSS-25 just so i could update the firmware. all's going fine, about 70% through installing the new firmware, then, *bam*, "Error in communicating with device" - my heart stops breifly. Once my ticker's started up again, i pull the battery (as instructed), reseat it & try to switch on... nada, dead as a dead thing. fire up recovery mode, same thing, errors just after it connects to the phone.
If i don't hear some good news from SE, (god knows where my nearest service centre is) i'll end up having it replaced by Orange Care.
my trusty (rusty?) P800 to the rescue though. bloody hell, i'd forgotten how to use the damn thing at first!

You should be able to repair your phone with a T28 service cable and MultiServer.

There are a few people claiming that R2N001 is now available to Vodaphone customers. If you are on Vodaphone and have a DSS-20/25 then i'm sure we would all appreciate it if you had another go to see whether it now works.
I have just tried my O2 phone again, with no luck. Just waiting for Total MultiServer to support DSS-20/25

Well my wife is on Voda UK and I'm on O2. Just tried both again with a DSS-25 with no joy.

The familiar error message continues to appear.

Yesterday my DSS-25 arrived and I immediately tried to update my Vodafone branded K700i -- new firmware is R2N001.
Still unable to select MP3s (DRMed or not) as ringtone...
(Please note this is Vodafone NL (Netherlands), not UK.)

Not working for me (Orange UK). Put the phone in the cradle when asks and it starts making beeping noises. It then seems to turn off and then alternate between a black screen, a charging screen and a white screen. Software goes to "Updating device" then says that it is unable to communicate.
Did anyone else get the beeping?
