From what i've read, a fine seems the likely outcome. Any breakaway would struggle anyway, and they know it too. F1 still has many years to go. This message was posted from a Z600

Does that mean that running a car underweight is infinately worse than bringing the sport into disrepute? I wouldn't have thought so...
A fine in this case could see BAR appeal thier previous sentence or seek compensation for harsh treatment. They did say at the time that the 2 race ban was excessive, the worst penalty in decades.

if their car is underweight they CHEATING!!
ofcourse they should get fined.... there are some cases when a drivers body fluids decrease and thus changing the overall weight, but the teams should accomodate that issue!!!

Yes I know they cheated. It's annoys me a great deal that they cheated. The FIA were unable to prove they did it intentionally though. In other words they read the regulations and in thier own stupidity interpreted them wrong. This however did not cause lawsuits against the FIA and Race Promoters. This didn't cause F1 to be ridiculed all over the world and BAR did eventually admit thier mistake and apologise.

Edit: Max Mosely's latest interview at www.formula1.com answers alot of the latest questions, including mine above.

It's obvious that the FIA are looking to let the teams off the hook and good on them.
The problems are just starting for Michelin.

Thank goodness BAR are not going to have thier suspended ban enforced.

Woot good race last night, well for the most.

Don't think MS has a hope of getting his championship this year to be honest. Well not unless they schedule the next 4 races in the US.

Great driving from Alonso, and brill work form Kimi, if he couldn't come first he got a well deserved second.

@Carkitter, any other kiwi watching this:
Is it just me or does the one sport team mangle names of all the racers on a regular basis?

I don't know which names specifically your referring to, but it wouldn't surprise me. Old Bob looks to have lost his objectivity with all those years working for McLaren... he was pretty adament than the teams were right and the FIA was wrong.

Fantastic driving by Alonso.
Button had an opportunity to put pressure on Michael Schumacher late in the race and snatch third but couldn't do it. In fact he couldn't even go fast enough to avoid being lapped. Useless.

@carkitter: Reubens name comes to mind, but he's not the only one they seem to butcher. It seems a common trend in amost any of TV1's presenters to not be able to prnounce a name that most other networks can.

I think they just like to keep people on their toes.

I feel sorry for kimi, that's another engine replacement before qualifying even started. Adding another 10 places to whatever he qualifies today. This message was posted from a Z600

Finally, two Mclarens on the podium. Good driving from montoya . Kimi has proved his point ,he set fastest laps in france and silverstone. Hope next time they dont blow kimi's engine. The reliability is costing too much for him. This message was posted from a T610
