@ Carkitter and MO,Do me a favour and phone around and enquire over there what colour T650i's they have in stock.Over here we only seem to have the blue ones at all the networks.The sales guy says each country get a designated colour and thats that.(dont know how true that is) South Africa got the blue T650i's unfortunitey.Me personally love the Green one.Its a beauty.My boss wants to upgrade to the T650i but she wont take the Blue.It must be the Green or she'll look at something else.I love the design and build of the T650i.

@JiSm: Wow, a W980i already? That's so lucky, I love that phone's looks... I'm guessing NZ won't see it for a year yet though!

@HOBBS: We don't get the T650i here unfortunately. The one carkitter plans to buy is an import. He can get whatever colour he wants, and for cheap too, but he won't get much support from Vodafone unfortunately. We do get the K770i in silver, which is similar, but the majority of SE's phones don't make it to our shores, apart from through importers.

Perhaps you could try an importer over in South Africa? Do you get many phone importers?

@HOBBS
Just as M-O said. Much as I like the Havanna Gold on the W910i and V640i, I will be going for the T650 because it's features and price match what I'm looking for ATM. Plus its also my own little protest against SENZ and VodafoneNZ with thier treatment of SE fans. I'll be happy if we get the whole range of Coming Soon phones before they are obselete though!

Gotta phone call today to say that the one-day photography course on Sat that I'd enrolled in has been cancelled due to lack of interest. Oh well, there's another in May, I'll try that.

She's on contract with a service provider called MTN so what they have is what you get.Might try and see if they can get hold of Sony Ericsson in Johannesburg and squeeze a green one out of them.If I wasnt into 'smartphones' the T650i would also be my phone of choice,in green of course.Feels real good in the hand.Nice size and weight.Stunning.If I was a service provider I'd head on over to NZ and sort your cellular industry out.Those buggers are taking you for a ride.You need more competition so the prices can drop.C'mon Virgin.Head on over to NZ and kick thiose other two service providers in the ass.

@carkitter: That's such an annoying thing to have happen! You seemed to be really looking forward to it too... Hopefully the May one is popular enough to go ahead. If I lived in your area, I'd certainly be interested in a bit of Photography tuition to get the most out of my Cybershot.

@HOBBS: Would you not be able to import a T650i in the colour you want and take it into MTN and say "this is the phone I want to use, set it up for me". Surely you could threaten to end your contract and join another network if they weren't prepared to set it up for you?

Yeah our networks definitely need a kick in the pants, but I think it's unlikely that any major players in the industry are going to attempt to take on such a small market (Theres only just over 4 million people living in New Zealand).

Hey carkitter (or any passing NZer who might know), would you happen to know whether our Vodafone network supports HSDPA yet? I haven't yet seen an "H" on my phone and I'm just wondering...

Cheers!

Hi brix25! Welcome to the NZ thread.

Thanks mate, I just found the image on a New Zealand website so it's not my photo actually! I agree, it is a nice photo, but I don't think it helps with the whole "NZ is full of sheep" idea that some people overseas seem to have!

How is Cape Town at the moment?

HSDPA works fine in NZ, I use a data card that supports HSDPA and it picks it up no prob. Does seem to be very limited at the moment as to locations that it works is though.
