@ london-uk
My recollection was for people not to make unnecessary journeys in the immediate aftermath and to assist the Emergency Services.
By the next day we were being advised to carry on as normally as possible.

Another update:
Police: All Four Terror Bombers Died
All four suspected bombers died during the London terror attacks, according to police sources.Sky News crime correspondent Martin Brunt said three bombers died in separate Tube attacks and one was killed in the No 30 bus blast.
Detectives believe all four were British citizens, Brunt said.
It was still not clear if the attackers were all suicide bombers.
This follows witness reports of a man on the bus in an agitated state constantly looking into his bag before the blast in Tavistock Square.
Brunt said police had made a number of arrests in Leeds today in relation to last Thursday's bombings.
They were also poised to make arrests in London, he said.
The news comes as armed police search a house in Leeds after the Army used a controlled explosion to get in.
Hundreds of people had already been evacuated from the area around Hyde Park Road, Burley.
No one was in the house at the time but armed officers had been used as a precaution.
Five other homes in Leeds had earlier been raided by police hunting the terrorists behind last week's attacks.
Neighbours at one of the addresses said a 22-year-old man who lived there with his family had gone missing.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair said the raids were "directly connected" to Thursday's atrocity.
Hours later, police evacuated Luton railway station and car park to recover a vehicle suspected of being linked with the terrorist attacks.
The car was blown up in a controlled explosion.
In other related news:
:: The death toll from the bombings is now at least 52 - although it is expected to rise higher.
:: Police have assigned family liaison officers to 74 families.
:: Detectives are scrutinising 2,500 tapes of CCTV footage in the hope of discovering vital clues which might identify the bombers.
:: Scores of families continue to await news of loved ones feared dead.
:: Police have released the names of two victims, Jamie Gordon and Philip Stuart Russell.
:: The Prime Minister has signed the official Book of Condolences for the victims of the attacks at City Hall in London.

Here's a Press Release issued within the past hour by the Muslim Association of Britain:
"The Muslim Association of Britain has today called for more emphasis to be placed on tackling the causes of terrorism. The organisation, which has condemned the bombings in London last week, said that a lot had been done in terms of counter-terrorism measures, but that little had been done to strike at the heart of the reasons why terrorism exists in the first place. Commenting, Anas Altikriti, MAB spokesperson said: “What happened in London completely and utterly repulses us. The finger of suspicion has been pointed on Muslims as being responsible for the atrocity. It goes without saying that if this is the case, these people are acting outside the framework of Islamic teachings. Nothing justifies the killing of innocents. “As British Muslims, there is a great responsibility on us. We are uniquely placed in this global faultline between Islam and the West, to help bridge this gap. We fully understand the psychology and background both of this country and the Muslim world. “With this in mind, we have to state once again that until the grievances of the Muslim world are addressed, the open wound from which blood trickled onto London will continue to exist. That wound is the injustices felt in Palestine, in Iraq and other parts of the Muslim world. It is the installing and propping up of dictators and stems from hundreds of years of colonialism. In the West, we have forgotten most of this – the Muslim world with its past hasn’t. “Once this is addressed, global security will prevail. Re-evaluating our foreign policy is not as easy task but must be done. We can throw as many counter-terrorism measures at the problem, lock up people indefinitely, stop and search people indiscriminately, make them carry ID cards, but we are not even sticking elastoplasts on the gaping wound this way. “To borrow and adapt one of the Prime Minister’s own phrases, we need to be tough on terrorism, and tough on the causes of terrorism.”

it makes me sick to think the bombers were british. That the people you might have seen everyday could have murdered those people. I hope that there arn't revenge attacks cos thats letting them win but how can you know if there's a nice guy or a suicide bomber driving you home after a friday night at Tiger Tiger. i'm afraid things are going to get a lot worse in this country now.
Having just read that last post i fully agree with what was said but must also point out that i myself am against what Bush et al are doing across the middle east and the rest of the world but i have not blown anyone up yet and have no plans to. Peaceful resistance is the only way they will be beaten.

Or perhaps the nice guy pays the taxes that buys the bombs that get dropped on women and children in Afghanistan?

then maybe a mass campaign to withhold paying taxes for that very reason should be the way forward. I read of a woman doing that very thing but over the iraq war.

People who are in such a deranged state as to attempt to justify the killing of innocent people should not be listened to. It is complete lunacy to advocate that we (the UK) should in some way have brought these mindless attacks upon ourselves. Our (elected!) government has done what it sees as reasonable in order to attempt to restore security to the world. The war in Iraq is wholly seperate to any attacks within this country, the bombers will quote any cause in order to validate their insane rampage.
