Ok, I think it's time I give a proper report back on the status of my phone since the upgrade.

*The UI is more stable- sub menus are still there.
*The two pre-insalled games( Super Real Tennis and 3D Darts) are not working- says "Operation Failed" when I try opening them.
*Compared to RAE033...the new firmware comes with only one them as opposed to three in my previous version.
*Camera takes better pics.
*There also fewer pre-installed pics in the picture folder...a lot more Vodacom junk.

Other than it's still the same old phone.

You're very welcome, Falcon. @Brix, glad to hear your baby's operational once more, buddy. Regarding tourists and their mobiles, quite a large number of D500's were evident, more than i've ever seen at 1 venue in fact. Spotted 8 in the restaurant, quite a few more in our tour group. Makes you think... This message was posted from a Nokia

I'm very keen to get a 'retro' SE or Ericsson phone, for a few clandestine purposes like using up pre-loaded credit on many PAYG simcards that I have accumulated from various free online offers in the UK.
I could sell the sims to a few UK guys on esato, but the pre-loaded call credit (£1 on Orange,T-Mobile,etc. or occasionally £5 on some Virgin ones, etc.)is sometimes worth more than what you will get for selling the sims!
On eBay there are brand new T68i's going for £44.99 buy-it-now and a few rare (unused!!)T39m's for various offers around the £30 mark. There are even new T65's going for £15,but the other two have Bluetooth, which is swinging the balance over price amongst these.
A few shops around here are selling new T610's for £60 on Virgin or £70 sim-free.
I'm not interested in getting my hands on a R520m,due to the problems the last one gave me about 4 years ago.

Decisions,decisions...

PS: If any of you guys come over and need a Pom PAYG simcard, give Wanq-Man a holler.

@Wankster, ironic that you mention the R520M. Had a call from a cousin earlier this evening, mentioned that he's on the way to Jozi, and that he might buy one of those from a friend, wanted any advice i could offer. Which were the most common probz with those models, and which probz did you experience? This message was posted from a Nokia

@ Kryptik,
There were two major hassles with the one I had:
1. dropping calls
2. microphone and speaker-related issues.
It is also a bit of a cumbersome handset. It is quite thin(16mm),but relatively long (130mm excluding aerial!) and wide.(50mm)
From my experiences,I find it very hard to recommend one.

BTW, the ROKR has dropped in price again at CPW,after just 2 weeks on the shelves here: Now only £169.99 when bought with £10 airtime.

Wansksta when the ROKR hits our stores its going to be between R1500 to R1600, that's quite cheap for a so called music phone.

@brix, glad to hear you have your precious back, by the way did you manage to get your hands on the LG M4410, if you did what's your views on it...

@ celltech,
Yeah, that certainly is good news for SA cell consumers if they are going to be that well-priced from the outset.
Mind you, seeing that it is basically a glorified e398...
Still,as you mentioned,as a dedicated (100 song..)music phone, it is quite cheap. Two ROKR's for the price of a W800 and still have some change? Er..no thanks.

I'm currently using the much-talked-about LG M4410...truly an uninspiring phone...any gadget freak will be disappointed with all it's built-in limitations ...the reason I'm posting from my precious is because setting up GPRS on the LG is impossible...asked the WM for advice and even he was stumped as to the inner workings of the LG. Will post more opinions on this phone later. This message was posted from a K700i
