No, not the first part. There is no income tax here in Oman.

Xperia is starting to attract my interest slowly. Mainly the fact its not far from release now.
Nope. They changed it to December now. Even if its next month, its still ten months from the date it was announced.
Spoke to Vodafone retentions today...they still have a release date of 9th Oct. They are sending me an OMNIA today, got sick of waiting.....especialy as today's announcment did not include any P x or X1 without keyboard

I would have done the same but I need a keyboard. P next or X2 I wouldnt bother waiting for, SE are done for the year, maybe Feb again with a 8 month release wait like x1.
That said, X1 is expected next month, its not Febuary 2008 anymore. For surfing the web on the go and work it seems like one of the best devices with the big screen, optical pad, keyboard and software opera 9.5 and MS exchange and office. Its the rest of WM I dont like, very plain looking and the need for the stylus to press regularly used functions.

I'm thinking of pre-ordering the X1i as well. seeing how the X1a is a bit lacking in the video department BUT I could always go with the X1a, since I can buy it in person at the Sony Store.

Here is the place I pre-ordered from.
The price isn't pretty...something more than $1000. Then, of course, buying anything in the Sony Stores is going to cost a pretty penny too. I don't want to wait around for AT&T to sell the X1a. I'm not even sure it will be featured in the AT&T stores anythime soon.
