that is no doubt a concern....
On my opinion,
wouldn't have a choice on removing timescape and mediascape for the sake of updating faster. These are the only aspect (aside from good camera) that will make
standout from other android devices.

Would be nice of SE to provide a choice for their costumers.
If you want Timescape/Mediascape - you wait longer for an update (as it is now).
If you don't want SE customization - you get the updates on time.
