But how others like Samsung, Apple, Huawei manage to pack bigger sensors into even slimmer bazel?

Simple, they cut the features of the camera module down. The XZ1 front camera is some phone's back camera with 6 lens element design....
While others are slim but has a plastic housing, 1-2 lens design and less feature like autofocus...

also, Sony is probably only one using wide angle both front and rear camera for the flagships, no wonder why the module is big

i doubt if they can fit a 8mp sensor, 1/4" sensor shouldnt be that much bigger then current sensor.

If u want some spec to confirm the XZ1 front camera is some phone back camera, then here is it:
IMX278, f/2.0 lens, made by LG Innotek and Samsung Electro-Mechanics customized for SoMC.

Still wish they could put the XA2 Ultras front camera setup into the Premium. I wonder how small they could possibly shrink the bezel and still fit it in.
spektykles, you've shared some interesting info these past weeks. Please understand we are skeptical of any insider info from a new source as we've been burned many times. If or when any info you've shared pans out then I'm sure people will view you in a different light.
For transparency sake, would you be able to clarify if you gather your info from around the web, or from a direct source? Just curious

From both sources.
I work with Xperia and Sony (not just smartphone but whole range of product, like PS, Bravia, SRDG, SCSL,...) softwares for some years now and have some direct contacts with developers, companies and carriers related to Sony...
The infos i gathered, then combine with info online like patents and interview, result in what u have now...

Thanks for clarifying

I knew it was going to happen.
Just compare U11 and U11+ for example.
Downgrade from 16MP to 8MP.
Check on gsmarena the samples of XZ against XZ2 selfie. Ignore XZ1 and its permanent beauty mode even when it is off.
Difference is ridiculous in favor of XZ.
In the end , the only benefit of AMBIENTE FLOW is ergonomy. Screen to body ratio is same of XA2.
Worse selfie camera compare even to L2.
Black bars when you play some games or watch videos.
I was a bit disappointed when I saw renders of XA2/XA2U, but they turned out to be much better in reality.
I think both look way better than xz2.
I like the loop.
Question : Ultra has always had OIS on front, but at night still shoots high ISO. Why?
@spek What was the main reason to kill Z, M and C? You still find ppl out there waiting for a Z6.
