@san,the problem i am facing is that the colours are not the same as what i was used to earlier...the black colour is now bright faded black...and the green coloured start icon is also faded and has no lively look to it. i tried around with the default (factory settings) but still not satisfied...i think the change is because of the replaced part and i got to get the original look back by altering the settings

@niru, difference compared to wat? a desktop? dunno depends on teh graphics card, monitor etc.
im using a hp1615ts laptop. not very happy with its performance. lookin to upgrade to a nice dell 9400 or similar.
