well I know of ONE phone that isn't even released yet that can record in HD video, and we don't know the Idou can't for definite yet do we? Also AMOLED!!!!! No thanks, I actually like to be able to see my screen in daylight. Not struggle and fail, OLED = FAIL. Far too many negatives for the plusses. Laptops still use TFT, so to state it's old tech is wrong, old but still better is more accurate IMO.

And the Palm Pre! Cramped keyboard, hardly any apps at launch and a 3.2mpx camera that cannot record ANY video out the box, now where did I see that before..........

Palm pre is very capable mobile phone.....

AMOLED screen is comming soon on SE mobile phones...

The Pre is capable but it will take a year or 2 before it's up to scratch, like an iPhone it lacks features out the box. As for AMOLED, until they can match LCD TFT screens for daylight viewing I'm not really interested, after all it is a MOBILE phone.

Omnia HD has terrible battery life despite the OLED.

Quiet on the front. I personally think that Reese will be shown next week since its been leaked by PK but I'm hoping for more than just one phone.

Nokia has a square phone coming with a strange swivel mechanism.

Ill be damned if nokia releases a swivel and SE does nothing about competition.

AMOLED is no worse in daylight than TFT LCD the only phone that is better right now is the iPhone as much as i hate admitting that, but you guys need to get your facts strate about OLED/LCD and the i8910's batt life is pretty good:

"The great 3.7" display and the widely spaced apart stereo speakers make the Samsung Omnia HD a serious competitor to the dedicated portable multimedia player. Plus we got 5h and 30min of constant SD XviD playback time out of the battery with the brightness set to maximum. That should tell you something."

but SE is in no position to release a phone that has sub par specs and expect to stand out to make their device the most wanted out of the bunch. thats all im trying to say is they either need an EXCELLENT OS/Platform or SPECTACULAR tech. i think that sony needs to step up and put out a PS3 type phone spec wise, it'd never get subsidized though.

i would just like to see them try, idou feels half baked ... the OLED thing is bothering me.

Jeez! How can you judge a phone already when you don't even know half its specs? A phone is much more than just a half filled in spec sheet. Anyway, Idou isn't that much of a rumour anymore, there is a dedicated thread for it and this isn't it.

Does this mean that Idou may have OLED screen...EXMOR camera sensor .... not only 1000mah and HD capabilities to stand on market during Q4 2009 that will be released??

This is not about Idou... It's about the leader series of sonyericsson's portfolio 2009...

Exactly! Someone has already said SE phones with OLED screens will be coming soon and we don't know what else is on the way at this stage.

At this stage I am not that convinced of OLED screens versus TFTs but am sure in time the former would be better than the latter.

But, for everything else my ninja pointed out he makes a compelling case. SE does need a real flagship in their portfolio to really show they are capable, just ONE phone at the top end.

The P-series was once such a device but they screwed it up themselves. The one device that had it all and showcased what SE could do died a sad death.

Now, the Idou is almost there but not quite. Worse still, there are likely to be better equipped phones by the time it is released. Either they change or include new features that are currently not there, eg, HD recording and a few more to remain competitive.

They already have a tarnished image in terms of reliability and the ordinary people on the streets think that SE aren't as technologically advanced simply because the competition has upped their game.

Not so long ago Samsung was nowhere near SE's level of technology but today they are clearly ahead. Whether we like it or not new and innovative features sell phones and SE is just following everybody and not creating their own.

Get my facts right?

From YOUR link in YOUR post:

"The bad news about the display of Samsung i8910 is that its legibility drops dramatically under direct sunlight. Now that we have a more recent reference, the Omnia HD screen is a cut above the LG KM900 Arena and LG GC900 Viewty Smart in terms of sunlight legibility, but still remains inferior to the iPhone for example."

Therefore I would suggest it's YOU sir who needs to get his 'facts right'. I would sudgest the Idou's screen will give the Omnia HD good competition and annihilate it outdoors, it's an SE screen, it's not OLED so I CAN see it in sunlight. I look forward to your response now......
