I'm with you aksd. Wait until it's been released and the dust starts to fall a bit.
I got the Samsung i780 for much the same thinking that you got your e71. Just something to get me by until the X1, or maybe I'll wait a bit longer and see what else crops up. I like the Samsung but I'm still on the hunt for a WM phone with a fingertouch interface that actually works well.
I'm hopeful that the xperia panels will actually be quite useful and remove the need for the end user to come face to face with the WM UI for the basics of media, internet, phone and organiser functions, which all should be accessible within the finger touch ui without having to drop into the stylus dependent WM UI. I don't mind if the WM UI has to be used for settings and even file management - but for the basics mentioned, fingertouch control would be nice.

Yes. That's been my position all along.

seems to be aware of this, looking at some of the previews.
@Nimmyxhuynh:
Just check
page 4 of the X1 White paper to get the official info. The tech websites always seem to have something wrong in the spec listings.

So, all T-mobile users won't be able to use the X1? or they can but can only use the wi-fi feature right?

If you stick with T-Mobile, you'll be incompatible with their 3G (that's high-speed internet). You'll have to use their slower Edge connection for internet. Wi-Fi is a different animal and is not affected by whether you use T-Mobile or AT&T. You need to be near hot spots to use Wi-Fi.
So with T-Mobile you'll have:
Regular phone service
Edge
Wi-Fi
with AT&T you'll have:
Regular phone service
Edge
Wi-Fi
3G

Something seems fishy when they say there will be no U.S. version (X1a). I'm going to guess there was some sort of mis-communication between the rep and the reporter. Perhaps SE got wind of everyone turning up their nose at the video handicapped X1a ?
Or X1a will be announced on Nov 3rd ?

AFAIK, there is no need for an US version. The X1 supports a wide range of bands.
