@tash: If you've got the Norwegian version...press meny, instellinger, then go to the box that says Norsk and change that to English. Hope you get sorted. @All: Got up this morning with no hangover. This message was posted from a K700i

@ Tasha,
That's a relatively easy question to answer:

1. I currently earn FIVE times more money than I ever did in my profession in SA. On top of that, this will be closer to SIX times more once my additional management points kick in under the new pay structures soon. There is also an excellent pension scheme...
(I know money ain't everything,but it helps... )

2. I'm due for dual citizenship soon, as I already have Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) status. Hopefully the SA government doesn't continue to chop and change their stance on people having dual nationalities too much...
I enjoy touring Europe extensively, and I am tired of having to go to some European embassies for Schengen visas (some of them you have to apply in person) and being treated like some kind of 'untermensch' for every time I apply.Put simply,it is so cheap to fly to so many European destinations with airlines like Ryanair and Easyjet, and there is so much I want to still see and do....,doing all this with that 'burgundy passport' makes all this a WHOLE lot easier.
For the time it takes to fly from Cape Town to Jo'burg, you reach most prominent cities across Europe!
There are also many more public funds that one has access to once you're a Pom too..
and with us planning a family soon, free healthcare (part of my tax contribution) and schooling will come in handy.

3. My CV is looking pretty comprehensive with all the things I have managed to achieve here so far. I have 'climbed the ladder' quite well here. Should I ever return to work in SA,it can only be worth its weight in gold.
The Poms have been good to me,but I have had to work damn hard to get where I am.

4. I met my wife in ..(ahem...) a pub here!
____________________
Do I miss home? Absolutely. I have so many good friends across SA,family and I miss our (to quote a fellow SA-esato member,786KBR,) "warm, beautiful country."
Even though there is so much to see and do here, one only has themselves to blame if one gets bored, and even though there are so many stunning places to visit here, particularly in rural Britain, I do miss elements of SA.

I try make the annual pilgrimage back to SA on a yearly basis.

Holly hell ! ! ! I can't belive it. Something must be wrong with MTN gprs/edge fees charging/counting ! I have absolutely NO credit on the ' pay as you go ' and I still can download on my laptop (bluetooth edge connected to my bud's 6680 at 64kbps up 200+ down !) It does about 700MB (1CD worth of internet crap a night) I hope it will stay like this for ever :-) Unfortunately the 6680 will have to go after the braai late this evening.Greetings from Jeffreys. Yep mario...it's been like that for a couple of days now...wish I had an EDGE-enable phone that supported streaming...the M4410 doesn't support streaming even though it's got EDGE...Just from observation, MTN's EDGE network is more widespread than Vodacom's- I've only been able to pick up an EDGE signal in one location in the CBD where I live.

@Wankster, you go majita!!! Lekker thing is you can head this way whenever you like since the exchange rate's favourable. We've gotta hock the house to head thataway hehehe. @Mario, will pm you when i get home, heading to Nanaga Road Stall outside Coega for the world's best roosterbrood atm. There's a queue here to make a bank manager on the last day of the month blush! Looks like the entire world has discovered this place...
