xbox phone by nokia on the horizon ?

this thought of got supported by todays "the verge" article
The promise of Xbox as the entertainment service for Microsoft will come in different ways according to Medhi. "Xbox will go beyond the box to reach all new families of devices," he says. "Whether on your PC, tablet, TV or phone, Xbox will be a gateway to the best in music and video, your favorite games and instant access to your friends."

Apparently Nokia plans to make all future Lumia phones or Pure View water resistant

Won't !

Very simple: Nokia now rely on three major differentiating factors. The new design they brought into the market. Imaging (their latest is the PureView technology of course), their location-based ecosystem.

The first branch doesn't matter. It's just a hardware design.

The second branch, to bring the PureView technology, they need to go deeper in Android's code than Google allow them to! They have installed an extra small processor in the camera module itself to tackle all those MPs.. And for that they need some extra degree of freedom in the coding department.

As to the third branch, obviously this is the conflict that the two would never find a solution for! Google have their location-based ecosystem, and Nokia have theirs. And it's not just about the navigation and maps. It goes beyond that to other implementations and applications.

There is also a fourth branch, in terms of some extra services Nokia insist on bringing on to the new platform they adopted, and that is mainly a say in the development process of the platform, and also keeping own developers programs and services.. As well as certain areas like Nokia Music for instance which Google would have put certain restrictions on.

Add all these branches together, and that's what Elop meant by Nokia going for WP in order to differentiate themselves enough from the competition; to a degree that wasn't feasible with Google's Android.

And if one thinks about it, Nokia joining Android that late would have put them in an underdog position to HTC and Samsung. Due to the experience and success both already had with the platform.
And in case Nokia made a success, the ceiling was to share Samsung's success in that one ecosystem. Meaning they won't be leading the ecosystem themselves the way they did for years.

With WP, they enjoy way more royalties from MS. Struck a delicious deal with MS paying huge amounts of money. And they'll have to chance to go back strong in the market while leading an ecosystem on their own!!

Question remains of course, will they succeed in leading the WP ecosystem into the third major player in the market and win back what they lost in the recent two to three years?? There is clear risk they took. But it was worth it, and results should start showing this year already..
