^^ Nothing new. Same story as with Z. Sony trying to save money wherever they can to keep a healthy margin on the Z1. Premium materials aren't cheap.

release in China is next week - I believe Negri are being conservative about delivery estimated date and as I live here in Asia it will be shipped direct to me and not through a distribution center in the US, I expect to have the phone in my hands by the 16th Feb
Doesn't that mean you'll be getting the L39h model instead of the C6906 global model?

Docomo phone/tablet bootloader cannot be unlocked. They are permanently locked.
Thanks... The joys of the japanese market.
I also saw android gurus on xda saying that when permanently locked, you need to wait for an exploit to be discovered, but with sony it is unlikely be ause securit is tight. Unfortunately there do not seem to be a lot of japanese developers invlved in xda so the japanese handsets may not get much attention.
But maybe AU handsets are different??
That I can ask Sony, not sure if Z1 really comes to AU...
Also quick question to you guys who may do these kind of things.
If i do not want to install a custom rom, and simply would like to sandbox some applications so it does not access my contacts, uninstall the docomo bloatware, and his kind of things, do i need bootloader unlock or root access is enough?
Can i get root access without unlocking bootloader?

Apple have always used 2-3 suppliers for their displays regardless of device and if you go over to a mac forum you'll notice exact same debate is held there as here regarding the display quality (Apple devices aren't exactly cheap either). Basically, this is not specific to Sony (all do that) and it is not about saving money, it is about not depending on a single source (a safety in the event one of the suppliers fails for one or another reason to deliver).

LOL
There's always someone arguing it's not good... or something else... This argument will continously return till we will have some serious review and nobody will ever complain... Same happened with ZU
