I'd like to see the ability to toggle weapons off and on - so you could make a custom weapon-set for each battle - it would be fun to do things like limit the weapons to just rifles or whatever. I imagine the ammo levels would need to be adjusted accordingly.

At this point I agree with you

One thing that I've always found odd, though, is with cluster bombs: when you aim, the arrow size doesn't appear to have any effect on the speed of fire. It always fires at full speed, so you have to aim almost directly up to hit things that aren't vary far away. Is there a reason for this that I don't get? I would prefer to be able to shoot more slowly at a shallower angle - the clusters should still release at the missile's highest point (but of course the lower this point is, the less the spread of clusters when they reach the ground).
What do people think of this suggestion?
I don't know but I am used to this kind of shooting with a cluster bomb, in worms it was just like this. So it doesn't bother me but I can understand that it does to you.
@Tom, I noticeed a mistake in the high scores screen. The fastes and slowest victory are in the wrong place.
fastest victory: 24.07 min
slowest victory: 9.01 min
this should be the other way around.

I like this idea. To extend it a bit further: if there was a 'punch' weapon, then you could turn all weapons off and be limited to fisticuffs until you were lucky enough to pick up some weapons in a crate.
On the subject of crates:
Now I know this isn't meant to be an exact worms clone, but here are some things that I personally would change about them:
1. They would 'stick' wherever they land, and not bounce at all.
2. They would be prevented from falling directly onto an ant (so you have to physically walk your ant into one. Sometimes you'd have to choose an ant that may not be in the best tactical position to attack, in order to collect a crate).
3. I've said this before, but I'd LOVE to have a caption appear when you get a crate saying what you've collected.
And since I'm on a suggestion-drive (at a time when floss isn't even planning on doing much work on Soldier Ants!): Strike-style weapons, anyone?
Edit: Sorry, one more thing. Any chance of a volume control from the in-game options menu?

I could publish a version with with fewer maps and have the default maps as a map pack. I don't really want to have to maintain another version of the file though. Is there no way you can download it to a PC and then install from there?

It would be in addition to the arrows to select an ant though, so it should be good for everyone. (and I do like to use the stylus properly!)

Not a bad idea, it means more front end screens though which I don't enjoy much... so it may take a while to summon the enthusiasm to do it.

That is because they are rocket propelled like the RPG rather than thrown. A weapon that powerful needs to have its use limited a bit.

Yeah, I noticed that too but I had a quick look at the code and it shouldn't be! I think I'll double check that, I might just have been having a bad day.

I can see how that would be good, I may have a play with that. On a similar note I had thought of including a glue gun which stuck ants to the ground for a few rounds so they couldn't move.

Yeah, that is a bit silly. Definitely needs fixing.

I absolutely totally agree and I will make it happen, please keep reminding me.

Yes, that too. Quite easy to add I think.
Cheers,
Tom

Tom, jsut wondering you now have version 1.25 on ur website, does that mean that you're putting the game up for free. When I downloaded it, ur website didnt ask for any verifications at all.
No worries from me though coz I've bought the game already and in fact I love the countryside map so much (the 3d effect is so cool), and coz u're so responsive to our requests on this board, I'm gonna buy the game again. I know this is obviously not big bucks but its more a symbol of my appreciation. Thanks

Hmm I do ask the stupidest questions, I assure you I'm not that daft in real life:-). Have not checked the music yet but some 80s music will be great.
If there was one wish I could have for Solider Ants, its to be able to play it over GPRS, imagine how much fun we can get by challenging each other. The Bluetooth function is not so useful for me coz I can hardly find a friend who also plays Soldier Ants:-(
I know I've suggested the GPRS thing before Tom, no pressure intended, ignore me, just wishing

my friends and I spend a good part of the evening impressing ourselves with the demo. The game is 50 times better with multiple people playing, which is impressive considering how addicting playing alone is. Playing with two people also evens the playing field since I can't seem to beat the computer.
For sure buying this when I get home. Also I'm very impressed at how responsive and helpful floss is.

Tom, I think I've discovered a bug in the latest version of SA. I always get an error msg when I try to load a game. When I click load, I get back the game but immediately after the computer's ants mmake a move, the game just crashes. Can someone else verufy whether this is the case or could it jus be my P800 thats all screwed up. Thanks
