Well 3 days until Vodafone Live with 3G launches - whether they will be launching with all of their handsets on Wednesday remains to be seen - lets hope so though!

There have been some arguments about the V800 published without Vodafone firmware or not. Well, I didn't have the patience to read through all the 23 pages of this topic, so sorry if I'm repeating someone's reply here. So, the answer is that everyone should go to http://www.clubsonyericsson.com/en/products_v800.shtml ,where it is written and has a link to some .pdf from Vodafone's site, that V800 is Vodafone exclusive only at launch, and after a few months, it'll be available unlocked. My question is, that here in Hungary, the 3 main operators (T-Mobile [former Westel], Pannon GSM and Vodafone) just started developing UMTS, and some say that the service will only start at the beginning of 2006!! But still the V800 will be available here, right? I'm asking this coz the Hungarian SE website still shows the Z1010 as a 'Coming Soon' phone, and of course doesn't even mention the V800. BTW, that .pdf, and explanation can be found here: http://www.clubsonyericsson.com/forum/index.php/topic,2225.0.html

yes, but there still is confusion on this point.
here, for example, taken today, from the sony ericsson site in europe is the statement:
quote
The V800 is sold exclusively through Vodafone and Vodafone partner network operators.

@4motion
Where did u know baut this??

It is said.... unbranded V800 will be sold 1-2month or more after the official release of vodafone branded V800... however... there no confirmation/proof of wat i've juz said...

lookin at SE website.. the K500i is juz an unbranded version of F500i which is vodafone branded... question is, will there be V800 unbranded or a brand new version e.g Z800 or Z1020 with new design etc.. juz like wat SE did to F500i & F500i...

hhmm.. the only evidence of unbranded V800 is juz the picture of V800 cover without vodafone branding.. is that enough to proof the existance of the V800 unbranded? we dont know....

Why, didn't you go to the second link given? In the UCSE forum, there's more than just a picture as proof to an unbranded V800 later on. Here's a direct link to Vodafone's OFFICIAL .pdf documentation that I was talking about: http://www.vodafone.com/assets/files/en/vod1163hr_prl_final.pdf

Niji:
But, it isn't stated for how long the V800 is going to be Vodafone exclusive in your quote.

In the .pdf's list, the V800 will be "exclusive at launch in Europe". "At launch", which means that the V800 will only be available thru VF for the first month or two, after the phone is published

If there is no FM radio, perhaps I'll be able to get a bit more use out of the FM handsfree I got for my T610?

Cheers for that picture 02, that helps me alot.

I suppose you could stream internet radio, but wouldnt that be rather expensive ?

I really cannot understand how SE give with one hand (better LED's over the S700, DUO pro, 3G, improved icon interface..) but take away with the other ( smaller screen resolution, no FM ) when they announce a new phone.

Why can they not just put all the S700's specifications into the V800 ? I dont think it would make the phone any larger or significantly more expensive.
