I think you'd need to unlock the phone in order to use the SonyEricsson online update service. De-branding alone is not enough.

I've sucessfully debranded my k700i (it was switzerland orange branded)
But the SE online update service still doesent work (the message that it don't work with my operator).
Is my K700i locked?
In the Simlock menü i have these:
network (open lock) 5
network subnet (open lock) 5
Service Provider (open lock) 5
Corporate (openlock) 5
ESL (openlock) 5
It would be nice if someone could help me.

I remember reading somewhere that SE has also blocked use of the Online Update service by IMEI number (e.g. IMEI's that it knows have gone to your operator may be blocked) as well as Customisation. If this is true (and knowing my memory that is far from guaranteed) then it will not be possible to use the SE update service on your phone.
Can anyone confirm/support this?

either way i just got a new higher capicity battery ( 1100mah) and it works a treat.
So far 3 days after charging its still 3/4 charged and i have used the phone alot more to try and see how much it can take
animated theme, bluetooth on, the lot
