I heard an interesting hint of the future at the CTIA Wireless trade show today. During a presentation on the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 smart phone, Sony Ericsson senior manager for application and product planning Ramanath Bhat didn't rule out opening up Sony Ericsson's new "panel" user interface to other Windows Mobile gadgets, which would be a big step forward for Windows Mobile.

I just asked if they heard any solid date for X1 stock, and was told 1st week in October, but they seem to think Orange will have exclusivity for the first month or so.
Anyone here (UK) know anything about that?
I really need to stay with 02, cos a) the reception is best of all the networks where i work (Cheshire), and b) I have 02 broadband, and get a discount for being an 02 phone customer.
Please someone, say it aint Orange exclusive!

3d HW acceleration is used for games, video playback/recording ,its UI and almost everything you visually see in the phone.
It gives better performance, especially in games and videos.
Btw,
wm7 will definitely have a great UI. which will likely be released in 2nd half of 2009.

I think hw acceleration is also used for the navigation software. It comes to my mind that the older HTCs missed some video drivers and therefore performed bad on navigation.

VODAFONE havea date of 5th of OCt for this phone and expansys.com have a preorder option sim free so i don't think it is an orande exclusive.
