When the camera is on, the d-pad becomes a lightened buttons pad for camera functions a la Samsung U900. That's probably why the guy thought they were touch-sensitive keys.

well I can tell you it is more about optics than sensor.
my handycam(year 2007) has a cmos yet it takes far better pictures than my kodak(year 2005) camera with a ccd. Actually once I bought the handycam, I never use the kodak anymore. Plus the zoom on the handycam pwns the kodak

Just a reminder mates:
C905 uses EXMOR cmos sensor.
And that is a better cmos than what is in innow8, pixon, renoir etc.

Hey you questioned my gender, so I had to link to something..
@Plank, if you are going to post two pictures that have completely different light levels and focal distances then don't expect the comparo to be taken seriously. I bet if you look at full res examples of those two, the imobile picture has much more detail and hasn't been over compressed like C902 pictures.
As far as colour goes, I have no idea what you are talking about. The imobile colour is fine. You have compared two completely different pictures of a forest pathway - one is taken from an enclosed position with much less available light and the other is taken from an open perspective with abundant natural light in the foreground.

I agree it's not black and white, but technology is getting better all the time and a two year difference is large imho. CMOS is getting better all the time, but all other things being equal, CCD generally produces clearer picture with less noise than CMOS.
As I said, large CMOS sensors have far less disadvantage compared to CCD than small CMOS sensors where noise is a major problem. But as we all know CMOS sensors in phones are very small.
The day will come where there is no effective difference but that day is not yet.
Of course optics is one of the most important factors, but since all camera phone optics up to now have remained very poor quality, the CCD/CMOS comparison is valid. (please, if a Nokia fan mentions Carl Zeiss, my head will explode)

Exactly and look how clear and noise free S700 pictures are, and colour is supurb compared any other camera phone of the day and even much newer camera phones. Even better than the K750, although the K750 has AF and 2MP and overall was a better camera, but only just.
Even K800/K850/C902 are lousy in terms of noise compared to S700, however because of the extra MP if you resize a K800 down to 1.2MP then it compares well against the S700 (especially given AF)

Add this thing to the list
Sharp SH-01 symbian MOAP based for NTT docomo

^^ 8mp CCD with 28mm wide angle view is something very unusual with mobile camera phones this days. and i bet all the top 5 major players in the mobile industry(except samsung korea which were big fans of CCD and sticking lens

) are starting to feel jealous about this killer sharp camphone. - and in case you question sharp's camphone quality you may look at their track record with sharp GX30 and 903SH which were the leaders in their respective 1.3 and 3.2mp department.

i-mobile902...so much for CCD sensor....
You always post the worst examples when you're trying to show that SE beats another brand. These same photos you
posted a couple of months ago. You actually downloaded them from Flickr and then uploaded to ImageShack. WHY?!?

Remember how you were lying when you claimed that these where the first photos you found in Flickr?

edit. i didnt take some bad daylight pics from i-mobile902 on Flickr.com, i just took the 3 first i found. (and seriously, i look at some more, and all of them had same problem with details & contrast IN DAYLIGHT)
The first three? So how did you search? Searching on '
i-mobile 902' sure doesn't return the one's you posted in the top! I count the car shot as the 16th hit.
Can we trust that you didn't tamper with the photos before uploading to ImageShack?
It's also interesting that you stick on the very basic faults like SATURATION and WHITE BALANCE in photos from the i-mobile 902 which are trivial to fix with any photo editor while ignoring the irreversible damage in C902 photos from NOISE, OVER-SHARPENING, NOISE, PURPLE FRINGING, and NOISE! Sorry, I forgot to mention NOISE.
The problems with saturation and white balance in i-mobile 902 photos are correctable faults in the camera software and not due to the CCD sensor, while the purple fringing, and noise in C902 photos are caused by poor quality lens and CMOS sensor.
