It is kind of strange that Sony will release 3 phones with almost identical specs in Q4.
Sony still makes a confusing catalog of gadgets that overlap or even cannibalize one another. And for none of them we can say ‘This contains the best, most cutting-edge technology.’
Am I doing this right?

Android is actually very good at supporting legacy software, which is a redeeming feature in light of the so-called fragmentation. Most apps only require 2.1 or 2.2 and up. Most Android games aren't processor-intensive as well, so they run well on most devices.
You just even emphasized my point that Android smartphones can't run latest OS version and updated versions of the app. So how many devices are we talking about here? Are those smartphones models you talking about that run Android games the latest ones? You see, there's so many Android phones that are in the market right now but none of them can really take advantage of all the hundred thousand of apps in Google Play market. Whether an Android smarphone has the highest specs or not, it still would not ba able to run majority of apps because of incompatibility with the different SoC's and ever slow adaptation to new version of Android. So if Sony released a smartphone running PS Vita OS, these problems would not exist. Software updates with PS Vita phone would be faster as there would be less models to work with.
Additionally, buying an Android is like getting a PC, you shouldn't be surprised if games run slowly if you didn't fork out enough dough.
You hit my point bulleye's again. Android is very much like PC, some games run sluggish or not at all due to incompatibility with the SoC. You see some PC games run only in PC's with compatible graphics cards. YOu very clearly point out another disadvantage with Android.
The only way to "work things out" is to put all of Vita's internals into a phone. As I said, the Vita is a very powerful device. Almost PS3-level powerful. Phones aren't and won't be for a couple of years.
PS Vita OS is a expandable OS according to SOny CEO. So using the platform an OS for a smarphone or tablet would not be any harder than with Android.
And correction, Exynos 4414 is much powerful than PS Vita SoC, overall. But PS VIta still wins in the graphics department.
Integrating which technologies, exactly? What are you on about? Your first paragraph sounds like generic PR rambling. As for Apple's ecosystem, just read my previous post. The Vita OS has no novelty value at all. Its interface is clunky and childish and its kernel and drivers are designed to work on only ONE device. It's gonna take a lot of R&D to fix that. Furthermore, successful ecosystems are made from popularity.
Sony has a lot of technoligies that are in the pipeline. Remember in 2007 or 2008, an internet device named Mylo came out of the blue? Although it was not that successful, how much did you think Sony spend to develop such a device? And how long did it take for Sony to develop Mylo? You guys seem to underestimate Sony.
Again PS Vita OS is an expandable OS. It is made ready to be used as an OS for smartphones and tablets. So developing a mobile device running PS VIta OS would not cost that much or would not take that much longer. It is not as if Sony is going to start from scratch.
I beg to disagree, Apple ecosystem is not just a novelty. It has become very popular through the years because Apple was able to revolutionize smartphones with capacitive touchscreen and application market, something that Nokia and company had not been very successful.
If successful ecosystem is made from popularity, how come Symbian phones are almost non-existent nowadays? Symbian had been the most successful and popular OS in the last decade. But with the entry of iOS and Android it was able to maintain its lead. Why? Symbian has poor foundation with its ecosystem. Just like Android, there were too many devices powered by OS with different OS customization and form factors. Yes, there were apps but mostly exclusive to Nokia and very limited. Just like Android again, these apps were not compatible on other Symbian devices. I see Android suffering the same fate like Symbian few years down. It would reach its plateau but Sony Mobile does not have to. And the PS VIta OS is the answer to that.
It offers
Microsoft has Windows on PC, Office and a variety of online services to back theirs.
Apple has OS X, iCloud and iOS, the latter becoming popular out of sheer novelty and brand recognition.
Google has a master suite of online services and a very flexible mobile OS that runs on hundreds of millions of devices.
Sony has 2 gaming consoles, some TV's and the not-so-popular Unlimited apps. Not so much of a software company.
Do you even know why Microsoft made the Xbox? Because they were afraid that Sony would make the Playstation as a entertainment hub, which they did. So imagine Xbox were not existing today, would not that give Sony an upperhand?

I think the reason why Sony is releasing so many phones at once is because they want to get all the phones on the market that were developed/deigned under

. That way the next year portfolio will be a true Sony portfolio and on top of that Sony can use the sales data from all the 2012 phone to see what the customer relay want and narrow down the selection of phones for next year and years to come.

Sounds like a good plan. I'd like to see less phones from Sony next year.

I think we need to stop fooling ourselves about sony's excellent "services". Video unlimited is shit, music unlimited is even more shit (spotify hello). The Playstation suite is like 2years delayed and is probably gonna suck when its finally released. Just face it no one is using Sony services and no one ever has. Is anyone here at esato even using any of sony's services? Sony will probably rename them again soon. Ask anyone about Sony software that isnt a fanboy and you realize they are not known for their software.
Sony make excellent hardware and it is there they should compete. Do you think anyone at all would choose xperia tablet over iPad or even tabs from like samsung or asus beacause of software? They will choose sony because it looks and feels great and has excellent hardware. Sony really needs to up their hardware game and they will have an excellent offering. If they continue like this they will go bankrupt
Now randomuser or that crazy Guy worf will probably go crazy over what I said but its the truth which you all know deep inside. We are all here at esato because we like Sony and Im so tired of seeing them making all these bad decisions. Really hope they turn around the company next year
If Sony has to survive, they have to focus on software as well. Yes they are a hardware company, but if their services suck, they better do something about it. The world is moving towards convergence, people want devices which can do as much as possible with the least efforts. People buy the iphones for this very reason. They have decent hardware, good software and one crucial thing which differentiates it from every other company's phone, a central place to get media content, ie, iTunes. People want a gadget which has the software necessary to get all the media content they want without any hassles, they want convenience. That's why Apple makes more money on smartphones than any other company. Or at least that's where the money lies, because in a couple of years, everyone will have almost the same hardware. Technologies like AMOLED displays, once exclusive to companies like Samsung will be widespread, everyone will have it. Samsung can no longer use it as a unique selling point. The main differentiating factors will then be software and content.
I guess Sony knows the importance of that. That's why they had a slide from that leaked tablet presentation which compared the services offered by various manufacturers and only Apple, Amazon and Sony(at least on paper) had the most services. Sony has a huge potential, they just have to get their acts right.

Anyway, I don't answer you questions, because I clearly see you're fanboy and whatever I write, it'll always get rejected by you. Hence I don't spend time write the same thing over and over. I just write the reality the way I see it and don't care of others's opinions. In the previous posts I just wrote the reasons I'm so disappointed with Sony ( actually I liked SE, not Sony, I can't stand Sony, japanese are weird people, have you watched... never mind ) and I plan jumping to another much more reliable brand with brighter future. I have my own expectations, which SE used to fulfill in the past, but not anymore. They're changing ( in the wrong direction, if you ask me ) and their new vision doesn't correspond to my standards. At the same time other brands seem to get closer to what I want - a bit more "old SE" design, cute and glossy UI with gradients and transparency ( like the old UX, I don't like Sony's smokes and shadows in the new NXT UI ). Their old UI was colorful and bright, full of energy, while their new one is too dark, black, ghostly, scary, depressive... It doesn't fit my style. I'm not emo, I'm a cheerful person and I see the world one much brighter place. Black is not my color. The bright colors of the new Lumias are great for that matter. Have you asked yourself why does S3 not come in black? Or iOS' childish UI? Because it's made for the teens, who still see the sparkle, or even flame of life. It just says "Come and play with me". While Sony's UI is like a walk in the graveyard. Not to mention that minimalism in their current Xperias... Do you know why I hate Windows Phone? For exact the same reason I hate the new Xperias. I'm not retarded or mentally challenged and I can distinguish other shapes that squares. I want my old SE.
