@sponse:
Ok, at least you solved the bigger issue. Your first phone may have had it and you just did not notice actually.

@mogoo:
Thank you!

@owlsfan - i have heard they are not a great retailer and have expressed my suspicion of their business methods on here many times. i would contact them and see what's going on and if possible, just cancel your order and try to find what you want somewhere else.

just got home and tested more head phones, it turns out all the jack with 4 rings don't work, only 2 rings jack work. Can someone test it for me? Preferably using 3rd party non sony headphones with 4 rings.

I tested 3 rings, it's fine.

The middle one is 4 rings, bottom is 3. Usually the 4 rings one has mic.

monkeypantz - updates are released by region and geoffxx is in asia.. we still have to wait, sadly.

I did a little trick - were you are located doesn't actually have anything to do with when you get updates - it's all about the CN - clue - my phone no longer has UK CN from the time I flashed ftf 518

Its funny
DXOMARK clearly crowned Xperia Z1 for the best Video Cameraphone smartphone
and in GSMARENA in 1st test , GN3 wins ???
even when dpreview did some comparisons against LG G2
xperia Z1 was much ahead in that comparison
and Dpreview also said LG G2 is not on the same level of Xperia z1 in camera

the explanation is simple. they have a defective unit. it was obvious in the preview they had. we've other photo samples not showing the blurring on the right side of the photos.

sony should act and voluntarily send them a new review unit.

last i checked gsmarena has one of the highest web traffic for sites related to smartphones. when looking for specs, it also pops up on top of the google search results.

sony should do something about this. it's a very simple PR move that can do a lot for them. i'm sure it won't cost them thousands of dollars sending that site a new review unit.

That's because GSMArena only used superior auto for the most part, even on the lowlight shots, they never even tried handheld twilight mode.

It's actually kind of funny that in the first shootout they posted with the 1020, N3, G2, 5s, HTC one in it, Z1 only delivered great results on the daylight, and pretty much performed average in lowlight and video according to their review. When suddenly a new review from them appears, now stating that the Z1 wins in daylight, and also wins in lowlight video recording beating the competition by a huge margin on that lowlight video. Then the rest of the test Z1 fared quite well.

Personally I find the photos on Z1 way better IF the camera was set-up properly. The Z1 photo thread already proves the nice images Z1 can take although I agree it still needs a lot more software tweaking, and I don't know if anyone really notices it but the dynamic range on Z1 is something that no other cameraphone can replicate so far. Not even the 808, the 1020 comes close though.

While the 808, 1020, N3 may take sharper and more detailed images than the Z1, they always have something they lack that the Z1 has imo, and that is dynamic range.

EDIT:

@miromiromi

They said they did replace their Z1 unit with a new one, they mentioned it in the 6 way shootout.
