Z ultra was all about great media play back experience on the go, but seriously lacking in camera department (on par with most tablets I guess). It's "use anything as a stylus" tech is a hard sell to anyone honestly. Even in the promo video, they show people putting a piece of paper on the screen to trace on the device. Who the hell is going to bring a piece of paper with them just for silly function like that the whole time. And they don't even have any decent software to back the hand writing solution to begin with. Need at least a quick note writing app when you can start scribbling on the screen instantly and have function to convert to proper text doc later. Overall using my Z ultra as a mini tablet is the best though, especially when it has a good landscape mode, and can fit 6 apps in a row, wish I can do that on phones. I think if they want to do another z ultra like flagship, they need to get rid of the silly touch screen tech, which is one of the reason why it got thick bezel to begin with, even just having a generic stylus would be more useful than anything. Improve speakers too and camera and especially mic/recording. I can imagine a lot of journalist can use it. They can go QHD and start introducing multi screen/ true multi task functions. Small apps was a great idea maybe 2 years ago, Sony need to step up their games and get more serious with their software, adding software features is much cheaper than hardware.

I get that the Z Ultra was a sales disappointment, but that was in 2013. In 2014, smartphone sizes are moving up all the time. The Galaxy S5 is 5.1," the Z2 and LG G2 are 5.2," and now with the G3, they're creeping up to 5.5." The Z Ultra is looking smaller with every passing month, and even though they may need to scrap it and rethink their approach, having a 4.3" smartphone, a 5.2" smartphone, and then a 10.1" tablet is leaving a pretty big hole in your lineup, in my opinion. There's a lot of demand between 5.2" and 10.1." I'm not necessarily set on any one size, but it seems to me like you need something there. Personally, if they reveal something like a 7" version of the Z2 tablet with telephony, I'll be all over it.

I agree with Wintermute. Screen sizes are getting larger. However, the difference between a 6.5" and 5.5" screen is huge compared to a 5.5" and 4.5". Anything over 5.5" is massive in the pocket and the bezels need to be minimal over this size.
4.0", 5.5", 6.5", 8" and 10" devices are what I'd like to see.
I think, anything 6.0+" should be marketed primarily as a '
tab with phone function', rather than a smartphone. A lot of people are very easily put off by idea that something so large is meant to be lifted to the ear and spoken into (accessories not counting).
