Totally agree with XYZ and badassmam.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a hardcore Sony fan. Don't even consider other phones at all but sometimes truth is bitter and unpleasant.
Any way let's hope for the best. Hopefully that Monday announcement rumor turns out to be right.

These companies do have many different ways to earn money.
Smartphones can cannibalise other stuff..
Computers, cameras and tablets are facing less sales than they used to years ago.
Many ppl.just choose to have a phone instead of them.
Focusing only on high end products is very risky.
For example : In 2016 the Galaxy J3 was the 2nd best seller of their phones.
What if they decided to sell only S and Note?
Of course they would lose clients.
Many products with wide price range is important for success.
Alpha 6xxx series is important too, same way Alpha 9 is.
Clients have different needs and amount of money they can spend.
I dont expect XZ2p to have the performance of latest RX camera. Because the RX has 1" sensor.
But what if the phone had a 1" sensor too, would you still buy the RX plus XZ2 for example or just XZ2p?

Was looking at the GSM Arena review of the P20 Pro. Using their compare tool it still baffles me that the XZ2 seems to pick up more detail in objects than the S9 Plus and P20 Pro, both in good and low light. I feel Sony's got a good foundation to start with, but hopefully with the dual cam and fusion processor they can finally fully round out their product.
I remember some years ago a Sony rep had made a comment along the lines of their goal being to advance image sensors to the point where you don't need a flash. With cameras like the A7 series they've certainly done a great job there. Let's hope this new effort on their part is a similar leap for the smartphone division.

Difference is huge.
P20p samples are not much different from X Perf or XZ.

Amazing battery performance for the XZ2 Premium, coming in just a hair behind the S9+ and with the P20 Pro leading the pack.
If we're getting a larger battery on the Premium and possibly some energy saving benefits from an OLED screen then the Sony should be one of the longest lasting phones around.

Hmm, from what I understand the P20 Pro uses the cameras together to take simultaneous pics. At least that's what the GSM Arena analysis said. I have to imagine the Sony dual cam would be the same with the fusion processor. Does the P20 Pro or any other phone have a dedicated image processing chip like that?

Impossible for a phone without OIS take blur free pics when shutter is 5s for example.
The gsmarena tool samples of XZ1 is better than s8, pixel 2 and iX. But they dont consider it better.
So the fact the samples of XZ2 are better might not mean anything.
