There wasn't the train station in Kilmaurs when I was growing up. Kilmarnock in the late 70s, early 80s was dire. All the big factories were closing down and it was a ghost town. I'm glad it's improving. Shame about the rain!

My parents still live there. The station opened when I was at uni. It wasn't the greatest place to grow up in! I haven't been back for about 3 years. I always feel miserable when I'm in Ayrshire.

hmmm Its not all that bad. People just like to look at the worst aspects of things. I do like ayrshire a lot. A lot of countryside to lose yourself in, and only a 30min train ride or a 30min car ride to the big city. For me its ideal.
