I really do hope this is released early 2006,

I think it is a great, classleading, smartphone and it people have been waiting soooooo long for it, I won't be surprised if people give up waiting and move on to something else.

Yeah,there seems to be problems with the new operating system.SE has invested millions to designe/develop the hardware (i.e. the 990 cell) only to find out the OS is not up to scratch.The phone is already outdated in some aspects as of today,after all is a mid '05 design.Now they can't just upgrade it because they haven't got a penny back from the original design.The name should have been P1000 because of the new OS/interface, but after running into problems with the OS/interface stability they decided on 990 with the possibility of a 'upgrade' later on to the hopefully bug free 1000.I am curios to see if the 990 will see the light of day on the shelfs (and get SE at least part of the R&D money back) or we will have to wait till mid next year for the all mighty coffe making P1000 (and SE having to swallow the P990's R&D costs.) Mods please bear with me and don't delete this post even if it sounds crap.I would like to refer to it next year this time. Greetings from South Africa.Mario. I've been reading the rumours about software problems and the potential of SE to delay the launch of P990 to Q2 2006.

I believe that most of us would like proof of the rumour. Until then, we have to take SE official news that it will be available in Q1 2006.

Thank you.

It does sound like crap. It also sounds like you're being over critical about SE's new phone. If you substantiated what you've said with proof maybe i'd personally be more inclined to agree. However, from your past anti-SE remarks, i dont agree at all.

The phone isnt old, just because its not released the moment its announced unlike the usual Nokia S60 phones.

I'm really curious about where you got this info, Mario. Please provide source(s).

And how is the P990 "already outdated in some aspects as of today", if you don't mind me asking? I'm really curious to know your honest thoughts, not being sarcastic or anything.

word in what aspects is it outdated, the tech is in some respects beyond some PPCs and Communicators. So what are you talking about.

The P-King as I like to call the P990i will do just fine.

If Nokia can work with and announce 4 phones based on the new OS to launch around summer next year; I'm sure SE will have no issues. Remember SE as a whole are perfectionists; and thus will make sure the core OS & apps are ready. The UIQ3 GUI is fantastic from what I've seen on the SE Europe site. I've also noticed how much customization Symbian OS 9.1a offers; much more than PPCs by HTC/MS. When all the announcements of competitor devices smoke clears you'll have a refined product with apps ready to launch within the first week.

I do hope that a nice realtime emulator is ready for developers that will truely simulate the cpu. Remember the hardware isnt fully finalized yet when it comes to governing electric bodies so a last minute change to 3MP or even a slightly faster more efficient cpu could happen in less than a month.

My only gripes are 2 small things;
802.11g missing but at least 802.11b is there
Opera browser - seeing what the Nokia browser will be able to do (big part goes to Apple); I want this on the P990i.
