Looks kinda nice. But I'm sure the keypad problem is still there.

I've recently had my W580i fixed by Sony Ericsson because of it having a cracked keypad but when i called them to tell them the guy on the phone told me that Sony Ericsson know about the fault and they have released a new keypad which is thicker and is not meant to crack. He said the new keypad was introduced in February and any phone bought after February so have the new keypad in. So i would have thought the red and green colours would have the new keypads in I've had my replaced now and i'm meant to have the new keypad it hasn't cracked yet so im hoping its sorted.

Well this is a very nice set, i used to own one unless i sold it because the keypads unusually started breaking.. and there was a big problem as the keypad zero "0" stopped working... tht's it, only problem is the keypad, rest are all very nice in the fone, sound it powerful, display is also better than W850i...

I just bought one of these phones on O2 pay and go today and i asked the sales lady about the cracked keys problem. I asked her if it has been resolved and she said it was a problem with the early batch of phones but new ones will not have that problem. The keys on mine seem strong enough lets hope eh.

hi, i bought the w580i back in september, just recently, certain buttons on my keypad stopped working, i'm assuming this is what you refer to as "cracking" well it's the select button as well as the back button and the up button. i have discovered that if you push in the middle above the buttons where the walkman w is, these buttons work. of course this is a major hassle. when i inquired at the place of purchase, telephone booth, the employee did not seem aware of this problem. he also said i would have to pay $50 to send it, plus an additional $150 if i needed a rental phone. he also said it would take from 4-8 months to get it repaired. the phone is still under warantee, and i find it outrageous that i would be required to pay all of this and send it away for that long as the phone is only about 7 months old. i'm just wondering if anyone knows of a better way to get it fixed, or if there's another way that i could get it sent to SE without going through the place of purchase. would be greatly appreciated if someone got back to me with some advice. thanks.

in this case, when a button gets cracked, it splits in two pieces
