Im being forced into moving to vodafone (my new house doesnt have reception with any other operator - though i still need to check o2), what is the voda branded tytn II like? Is it much different to the standard version?
It's pretty similar, Vodafone have customised the dialling screen and added a splash screen etc on bootup, and removed a couple of apps (Worldcard mobile, and Windows Live Messenger), but it's all fairly bearable...
The good news is that, if like me you're a stickler for having phones as the manufacturer intended, there's already software on the XDA Developer forums which allows you to remove the vendor's lock on firmware, and then re-flash it with the original HTC roms, giving you a completely debranded phone with all the original apps present and correct.

ifyou can't get an unbranded then the next best thing is always to flash with generic firmware

dear all,
i want to share an experience, is it just me, or anyone else has the same issue?
the case was this, i mainly use my TYTN II as a modem connected to the computer through internet sharing. today the weather is warm and so humid, hence my TYTN II got warmer than used to.
whilst connected to the computer, i set the device to charge at the same time, and when it has the 3G connection, the device getting warmer and warmer, and eventually it stops charging, mainly due to the heat generated. i am sure of this because, after cooling down for some time, it manages to get the battery re-charged again. this also happened when i was travellig and having the GPS on, whilst using my car charger to re-charge.
what i want to know is, anyone else got the same problem? when the device gets excessive heat, it will just stop chargin?
thanks

Maybe a process that goes into a loop, driving up the CPU's power consumption? If you don't have a good process monitor then I recommend dotfred's
Task Manager. Don't let the fact that it has the same name as HTC's annoying application-closer-thingy distract you from trying this excellent utility!

hi AbuBasim,
thank you for the link, by the way, just wondering, what does it have anything to do with my CPU consumption that it refused to re-charge? i thought it was because that the device is getting a little too hot, and that when recharging, it will go beyond the limit temperature, hence it stopped recharging?
another question mate, what's the baud rate you set for your GPS in COM4?
default is 4800.......
thanks for the enlightment mate!

the easiest way I found is to hold the phone in your left hand face down with the bottom opinting away from you
insert two finger nails (index and middle) from your right hand under the battery cover at the bottom of the phone and pull/slide towards you
any other way make is feel like you are crushing the phone and I don't like that idea!

Hi!
hold your phone facing down.....wit the top (camera ) furthest away fom you.... over lots of soft pillows, or on the bed,
so fingertips are underneath.. and place thumbs on top.
then push upwards.. towards the camera and at the same time, slight down..
You should hear a nice click and the back can be lifted off..

its definitly easier pulling/sliding towards you and I'd fear pushing away that the back would go flying across the floor!
try both anyway...
