In what way does it not work? Can you switch the phone on? Can you enter your PIN? Can you see your contacts? Is there any error message?
What did your friend do to update your phone? Did he change the CDA with some tools, or did he just ran the Sony Ericsson Update Service?

i'm totaly screwed. the nearest se service center to me is in UAE wich i can't go.
also i mail them but they said me to bring my phone to se service center.
i don't know what should i do with my 1 week old P! (now it's a brick not a greate P1 !!! )
Dear Nima,
I experienced this problem just one time after upgrading my phone. I followed this procedure and the problem solved. You can try it too. hope it works :
1- Turn off your mobile.
2-Take out your battery, SIM card and memory stick.
3- Re-insert the sim card, memory stick and the battery.
4-Turn On the mobile.
5-Go to Menu>Control Panel>Other> Master Reset
6-Master Reset your mobile. Remember to check the "Delete the installed application (or programs)" option
7-After master reset, once again turn off your mobile, take out the battery and SM Card and then re-insert them.
I did this and the problem solved. The new firmware R9J005 is a good update for P1i. It makes the phone faster and more stable. I'm happy I upgraded to this version.
Just one question out of curiosity, is your mobile phone Generic World (CDA:162022/1 to 162022/3)? Because if it is not, you should n't have upgraded it. I bought my mobile from Citadel which offers Generic World phones. Other shops who sell P1i phones imported by travellers, offer different providers with different CDA.

2 things about the P1i against the P990i: while in contacts we can't use "find contact in all fields or in names & company" options!
and still in contacts, we can't use "undo delete" if we delete one item by mistake....

1- if i will update it will locked the phone?
2-how can i back up this version?so i can use in future?
3-do i need master reset before the possible update if i update?
4-can with this software in future make it generic world?or debrand it?
5-will void the warranty?coz if yes i better take it to se servise centre even if is far from me
