Yes the screen is slightly smaller but it's also at the same resolution as the bigger screen so everything is sharper. Think the 3rd gen ipod Nano. Tiny screen with high resolution, everything looks really sharp. I am assuming it's the same with the G900 as I've yet to see one but that's my understanding of screens.

Thank's Mizzle, can't wait to get me grubby hands on one of these.

3rd gen ipod nano is the same resolution (240x320) but only 2" diagonal, thats why it looks so sharp. 2.4" with the same resolution just makes using a stylus easier and makes the text easier to read

The screen of SE UIQ phones has shrunk fm 3.0 > 2.8 > 2.6 and is now 2.4".

It may 'feel' large due to the flush display, but surely isn't.

myth,

You do realise this is not marketed as a smart phone, don't you? G700/G900 are the same size as normal feature phones, so it's definitely a large display.

The g900 res is the same as the p1 and w960 hence why I assume as the screen is smaller it will be sharper then those devices?

@Mizzle

as mentioned before, the screen may 'seem' large, because it's flush and maybe also due to the phone/screen size ratio.

But compared to earlier UIQ phones 2.4 'is' small.

And it's really irrelevant if those two phones are being marketed as smartphones or walkie talkies.

Fact is, both are UIQ phones running the latest version of Symbian OS (so they are smart, no ?)

Yes, it's small compared to other UIQ phones, but you know what, G700/G900 are small as well compared to other UIQ phones. A 2.6 inch display would be impossible to have on a device this small.

Problem is you are making it like is a bad thing, and it it isnt, in the case of the g series. The p1 successor wont have a smaller screen.

man 2.4" compared to 2.6" by numbers seem to be quite a diference but in real, that wouldnt really make a big deal.....
