@Guys
Come on. We can all have a rational discussion. We love Sony smartphones, doesn't mean we have to force others to see our viewpoint.
@Tsepz
Majority of the people don't wait for months at long to buy a phone. Only high end enthusiasts like us do. So, if X is in the market for a good phone, he will get the one that appeals to be the best at that given point of time. So irrespective of the number of flagships a company has, its more pertinent for them to have products that match customer needs. If Z is available in March, even if GS4 is out in may and has better specs, Z still has a window of 3 months. Similarly, the H2 Sony flagship will topple GS4 specs so till its out, GS4 has a free run at the top of the market. Having multiple flagships is not a flawed strategy, its just a different one. If multiple flagships help in garnering higher sales, so be it.
@Etaab
The USPs of the Z are:
1. As of now, the best processor in the market
2. Dust/ Waterproof
3. Slick design
The last point is subjective. But overall impression has been positive. Its the first time dust and waterproof feature bundling hasn't been compromised with weak specs.

Dont get me wrong I dont hate Sony or the Z. Thats not what im about.
But I do agree with Tsepz, and trust me, myself and him had serious words on this forum a long time ago with the Symbian vs Android debate.
Karun, im not sure about the cpu since im not too bothered about the very top pinnacle of cpu technology as long as the phone can run up to date software for a year minimum whilst you have the phone so I dont see them as USPs.
Neither do I class the design or waterproofing as proper USPs. I dont like the design, to me its trying to look too much like an iPhone. But thats taste.
Software is the area of innovation Sony need to enter. So called gimmicks like Samsungs smart stay I find very useful and works 100% of the time. This is where Sony need to improve. The HDR video recording sounds good, but nothing no other phone couldnt do and something not really necessary. Most people dont shoot many videos on their phones unless they have kids. Video capture on mobiles was once a big deal but these days its just a pre requisite.
HTC have had some of the best ideas where innovation is relevant. Like taking pictures whilst shooting images. Samsung clearly ripped off that idea which is in my Sgs3 and taking pictures from pre recorded videos also.
I just get the impression Sony aren't trying and have little faith in their own products if they plan to release another flagship in the same year. I respect Apple and Samsung for NOT doing that.

One problem with Xperia Z is the ergonomics. The shape of the phone (dimensions, corners) make it hard to operate one-handed (eg: reaching upper corner). But I have to agree I like the sleek design of the smartphone.
PS: the discussion goes silly.. and funny, the people calling others fanboys don't realize they are at least the same if not worse.
@etaab don't feed the trolls! It's just waste of time..

People here seem to downsize the effect the waterproof/dustproof feature will have on the popularity of the Xperia Z. I can envisage stores keeping a fishtank on standby to show off the Z's water resistant feature, something which will have an instant impact on someone who is in the store to buy a phone. And let us be honest, Sony is a household name, unlike SE which was seen and treated as a subsidiary. They can brandish out names like Walkman,Bravia,Exmor RS and even go overboard over their Playstation integration, which in itself are USPs exclusive to Sony.
Say a guy goes into Carphone Warehouse and wants to buy a phone, given a choice between SGSIV and XZ.
Both phones are quad core, Krait and A15 dont ring a bell on 99% of consumers. The XZ comes from the fishtank, the SGSIV comes from the shelf
XV +1.
Terminologies associated with Sony
Walkman,Bravia, Playstation. Walkman-irrespective off actual sound quality is a household name since the 90s for their sound quality.
Bravia- Not sure if any TV brand has had as much exposure as sony have had with bravia.
Playstation- again. No point discussing the pros and cons of using the name playstation.
All these in a 7.9mm frame.
And people trying to liken the XV to iPhone let me remind yout that Samsung have been debarred from selling the SGSII in the US for replicating Apple's design/. Lets keep to facts here.
Thanks.

Xperia Z goes for pre-order in Poland. It's 2799 PLN (910 $, 680 Euro), if we order it now we will get 2 extra smart tags and "elegant case". There is also info that we can expect it will arrive to us about 18.02.2013.
In my opinion it's a little bit too expensive, and I will ait to order it when price will go down, after a few weeks.

@etaab- If Sony release a 5.5 inch phone at the end of the year, we can liken it to the Note II and not brand it as a flagship?

I personally think 5" screens should be the maximum size for a mobile phone. Anything bigger just increases the size of the phone. So yeah 5" 1080p screens should be the industry norm for a flagship device.
I love the Galaxy Note but its too big to be a phone for everyday use. If Sony made one it could be a direct competitor to the Notes but not have it as their flagship 'phone'.
You guys are right though, the Z is probably the only water / dust proofed phone with decent specs worthy of a flagship so yes, that could be its single most important USP.
Not a USP that would attract me though. Its not something id find handy in every day use unless I worked in an environment or had a hobby like fishing where the phone might fall into water.
Also I cant imagine it attracting Johnny Average from his iPhone.

Then what will make u like it ? If they ripped off small developer's ideas like Smart stay and Apple's Siri and marketed them ??????????
And wait for the GS4 announcement, you have a nice surprise in store for you if you think 5 inch should be the maximum size for a phone.
And yes please tell me what GREAT USP Galaxy S3 has !!!

Because it attracts fingerprints you mean? If so, you could say the same about the Arc/Arc S and K850, as they fingerprint magnets too.
