This evening I did the honourable thing and walked out of a really bad movie. Please people, if any of you are considering watching Straight Outta Benoni give it a miss. It's pure garbage, although he's much maligned Leon Schuster's movie at least has jokes. The jokes in this movie couldn't only be apparent to whities living in that suburban dump from which the movie takes it's title.

@ brix,
LOL,I'll give friends back home the warning,if they haven't already wasted any of their money on such garbage. Not the type of movie to make one feel proudly Souf Effrikan then.
Let's hope there is never a sequel made..imagine 'Straight Outta Boksburg & Brakpan:The Return of the Gomgatte' or whatever...
Some serious Cringe Factor for any self-respecting whitie.
Now I remember a bril Xhosa TV series back in the early 90's...brix,did you ever watch 'Velaphi'?

LOL@the wanqsta: Velaphi was a pure genius...sadly Ray Ntlokwana who played the role died several years ago...Bra Darkie is still around...early this year re-runs were showed around midday.
About the movie, don't think they'll make a second one. Don't see how the guys in suits will give them money after this.

That's sad news about Ray.I had no idea that he died.
If memory serves me correctly, the fictitious company that he worked for in the Velaphi series, wasn't it called Shukushukuma?
That Xhosa lecturer of mine back then used to also record the series and play them back in Xhosa lessons occasionally...it was such a fun way of learning and picking up isiXhosa dialogue.
Yeah,Velaphi was put to effective educational use as well. Who would have thought?
I loved it.
RIP,bra-Ray.

Hey, i remember that show! Back in the day i watched a few episodes of it, blooming hilarious! Those guys played their roles pretty damn well, so much so that when a kid at school was a bit mixed up the others would refer to him as uVelaphi.
Seems i spoke too soon, woke at midnight with a hellish fever, stuffy head, aching muscles, whole 9 yards. I hate the flu, means i've gotta stay in bed.
@Wanksta, Murphy's Law?

AYA, you know how profound Latin sounds, right? Well, i found a site where they've translated the most hilarious phrases into Latin!
Check out

My signature, when translated into English means, "The devil made me do it."
