My Arc is on 2.3.3 Docomo firmware and there is no theme option either.

You need a 4.X release.

Don't know why SE are dragging their heels with 2.3.4 release in many countries.

Urgh, I know it's like give us an exact date please, instead of teasing us with these cool features and then part realising it in some countries. Apple told their users the date of iOS 5, how hard can it be?

I quite agree....I have been checking my phone up to six times a day for the update with no luck yet. I thought the UK may have been of the first countties to have received the latest update.

My friend Says "Themes" option is not available in Display .. only Brightness, auto rotate ... is there

Does he defiantly have 2.3.3? It should be there for him if he does, where do you live? Could be a regional variation?

Ya very sure he has 2.3.3 (India region)....
Ya I guess its due to some region issue ..
How to know what region the phone is made for?
I think his phone is not indian region maybe other country's phone ..

He should have Build 4.0.A.2. Have him upgrade his phone. the Firmware is still 2.3.3, but the build will be upgraded to 4.0.A. This build has the Themes option. The firmware is out for India region Arc's.

In short very hard. Apple control the date of their releases because they control the the OS and the handsets. Android is run by Google and SE customise the FWs for networks who then in turn approve the firmwares for release. The chain has at least 3 extra stages and sets of people in it who all work independently and so different regions and networks get updated at different dates. SE can't give an exact release date because they can't guarantee the networks will approve the FW in time. Apple don't offer networks customisation and aren't bothered about regional customisation (search iPhone 4S is a global phone).

The upside is that with Ice Cream Sandwich Google is taking control of FW updates and release schedules like Windows Phone and iOS control and release their updates. There will be clearly outlined update timelines of handsets released with ICS or later and those customers can expect to receive updates/support for their handset within that timeline (suggested as 2 years).

This will mean no more waiting for SE, everyone will get their update at the same time and distributed in the same manner. I guess SE will have to pass their UI customisation (for things like the 3D camera, facebook inside, timescape etc) to Google so it is distributed with the update and that regional customisations will become a thing of the past, but that's my musing.

Recently my arc has been running pretty slow, like scrolling through the home screens and viewing photos they are blurred and take ages to 'focus' so it kind of annoying when looking at photos. Also occasionally when coming out of apps, the icons on the homescreen will just be squares and have to reload. I have advanced task killer installed and use it, which I think works to a degree anyone help me speed it up? Running official 2.3.3

ta

I would scre..w this advanced task killer, which makes as much good as bad for devices performance.
Rather look how much memory is left for operation, close unneeded apps like Facebook cr..p
which after launch eats 40MB of RAM.
