I also found something strange regarding the JAVA implementation in the new firmware (seems to be the new firmware at least). I used to have a K800i with the GB firmware (China) and I just got a K790a which I flashed with the KC firmware, with a CDA from Ukraine I believe.
The thing i noticed is that Gmail and Google maps don't open in fullscreen anymore, and there's not way to make them do that (they were fullscreen on the K800)
Can it be the K790a vs K800i? Is it the new firmware?
Someone said there were differences in the Java implementation based on the CDA...

The new K800i firmware R1KG001 is available on Wotan Server today. I'm still waiting for Asia Pacific CDA availaibility. Anyone has flashed his or hers? Report here.

OK, I decided to flash my K800i to R1KG001 with EUROPE 5 CDA via Wotan--have been waiting for APAC CDA, but it isn't uploaded yet as of now---and I find nothing 'noticeable' in this R1KG001 compared to R1KC001. The differences are only found on the firmware date--it is now April 18, 2007--or 070418. And it is version 41 (checked from the additional two digits after my IMEI number). The changes may be somewhere 'deep' behind the firmware itself, unnoticeable by end users like me. I'll report back when I discover something later.

Gmail opens full-screen in APAC and EUROPE 5. And yes, the font boldness is DIFFERENT for each CDAs. APAC font is thicker than EUROPE 5 in all Java games and applications. It may be due to Generic main firmware in EUROPE 5 CDA and China in APAC.

Hm, it is true that K800i is getting older and older. Mine is full of scratches now. And yes, everybody is talking much about newer phones like N95. The history repeats itself just like when we 'say good bye' to K700i, K750i and now--very soon--- K800i. But that is how the life cycle should be. I've preparing some money for the next phone..hehe..just haven't found the right one. So, still love my 'old toy'...

Ive flashed my K800i when it came out a couple of days ago from R1KC to R1KG001 with EUROPE 2.
Cant notice a thing with it.
I can only persume its behind the scenes mod. nothing visual.
But again if i find something i will let you know.

The trailer is 6 MB large so your operator may restrict it. Use PC with Internet Explorer or Mozilla. Open the .dd file with Notepad to get the true link, and copy-paste the link to the browser. Done!
