Well I thought I had finally made up my mind and was going to buy the X10 - but this 65k/16m colours issue is bothering me. My old W960 has 256k colours and it seems nuts to downgrade in that department, especially when I will be utilisng its media functions. I don't expect it's THAT noticable but Ive already seen people saying there is some banding with the colours. I can totally handle that if I felt that it was just a temporary thing and that the update would fix it but I really don't like this uncertainty. Im amazed we're still getting mixed messages from inside

Can't someone in that company just contact the screen manufacturer, find out and tell us?

Having them both here, I can say the screen from X10 is much, much better than W960's. You can see some gradients, but it isn't that bad and apart from that the screen is gorgeous. I'd say do it!

i know google nav works. i was asking moreso if it's possible to auto start and navigate using only voice search as demonstrated by google when they first released google nav.

The screen of the X10 is gorgeous. I had worries about it too until i decided to just stop listening to all the negative comments and just go for it, and believe when i tell you that you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. This phone is truly amazing.

I think they need to clarify this once for all. They have been giving contradictory and confusing information in this regard from beginning.

it is kind of frustrating that there hasn't been consistent or official information in this regard. I can't remember where or who said 1.6 limited colors to 65K. I can't seem to find it on the android developer site that such a limitation exists.
In either case, it would be nice if someone with an actual credible title from SE could confirm one way or the other to put this issue to rest.
Personally, it's not stopping me from wanting one. No one has complained of the screen and instead, all i've read is praise praise praise. Look forward to holding it in my hands....

@domipost
@Bankai123
Ok Im convinced!!

Just called O2 and signed my next two years away to this phone!
Im so glad Ive finally made the decision. I must have spent the last 2 days solid, scouring the net for reviews and youtube for video clips. I was torn between the white and black - I think the blue theme goes better with the white and a more orangey colour suits the black but the decision is kinda made for me since Orange have exclusivity on the white and their "unlimited" internet policy irks me. It's gonna arrive on Tuesday which is pretty damn quick. Shame Ill be at work
Still annoyed at O2 for their denial of having this phone last week. For a phone which we saw from a fair distance away - the mystery/confusion that surrounds it, even after release, is bonkers.
Now I just need to find a MW600 for sale!!

@saka: you're right. This is the first time I've seen SE being this uninformative. They're new to android and they seem to be quite naive regarding this.
