@john take a look at this file. I made this from the 1080 version of the first trailer and check out the bitrate

EDIT: The 1080 version is 130 mb which is also in the h264 format.

In low bit rates h.264 is certainly better than xvid,downside being the usage of more cpu power.
but i didnt know there was a lossless form of h.264
