I think it would be ridiculous to assume that the X1 will be the best specced phone for years to come. Won't there be always be a better device just around the corner?
If any company thought they couldn't release a phone without the fear of something better coming along then nothing would ever get released.

Who said that?
Given pinguino2’s post on 2008-09-08, display resolutions and diagonals: HTC Touch HD 800x480 and 3.8 in, Xperia X1 800x480 and 3.0 in, HTC Touch Pro 640x480 and 2.8 in., the screen densities (pixels/sq in) are as follows: 60,277; 96,711; 81,633.
Is one entitled to assume that Xperia X1 has the best sharpness of text and graphics and HTC Touch Pro is more readable than HTC Touch HD?
I would think the HD would have the best readability since it has the max-resolution/screen-size of the three. But, there are other factors involved in readability than pixel density.

The X1 does'nt look all that hot after the TOuch HD imho. A 3.8in screen would be awesome.
@WhyBe
Good news for you mate. WM7 can run on current gen hardware. At least in its current form. So there just "might" be a WM7 upgrade(If SE and Windows have any sense at all there will be).
Pity about the lack of an accelerometer though.
Thanks @aksd, do you have the final requirements of WM7 or a link or something? It makes sense that the latest gen of WM devices be upgradeable to WM7.

It's funny, until now we've heard endless tales of how amazing the X1's screen is, but now the Touch HD is set to blow that away completely, it becomes a "BS" feature. Interesting.
The screen isn't BS...what you're saying is
It's a WVGA screen just like the X1
Just a little larger but same resolution. What's the big deal? Are you looking at the same specs for the Touch HD that I am? It's a Diamond/TouchPro/X1 mashup. What exactly is so amazing about it over the X1? At best it matches the X1 (minus the ecosystem).

Hi, I'm sorry if I have missed this elsewhere, but are there any videos recorded with an Xperia available to view online? Wasn't sure if anyone with a prototype had tried recording and uploaded a vid?
Check the
BengalBoy review of the X1. He has a few pics and videos taken directly from the X1 available for download.

and yet it leaves out simple features such as cut&paste, blutetooth stereo, MMS, voice commands and other "cute" features unaccessable to the mainstream user.

Whats up with the whiners??
First they whine about x1i being delayed and not being possible to be realeased soon. Then they whine about x1i being slow, now they whine about its screen. Not to mention, its UI and whining about an os thats coming next year end.
Dont you guys have something better to do. There's always something better coming out for all of you. If your just gonna wait for the best, then keep waiting for ever.

@alex_on, @dejin, I concur. Some people are never satisfied because they are constantly chasing a fantasy.

Okay, so ive read about the X1 a fair bit, and watched the webcast, and im left with a horrible feeling that the whole device is built around a theory that isnt particularly good.
Panels...is it just me, or do we not actually need these 'panels', i meen, great, we can have fish swimming around the 'desktop' sometimes, and other times we can have the media player....big woop...to change panels requires pressing 2 buttons,...think about a normal phone, we can press the menu button, then the media player button, and there you go, the media player is open.
Im sorry if you guys think this panel thing is great, but as it stands, it seems that the whole idea which this phone is built around is just a bit of a gimmick...we don't need 9 friggin desktops! its just like the bloody menu on any other SE phone.
Anyone else feel the same at all?

@arj2442
shhhhhh!...........if you dont like what SE churn out you become a whiner
The ppi on the HD is less of course, but readability will be easier imo. What none of you understand is wheather you buy a TD, TD Pro , TD HD or X1 you're basically paying for the same core, in that sense the X1 has fewer add ons(no accelerometer etc.) but makes up with, hopefully, build quality? Like Boinng has pointed out the UI is more of a gimmick from TOuchFLo to the Panels, you're paying for the hardware the UI is just another app, the X1 would still be a good phone without the panels and the panels really should'nt be the reason you're buying the phone, then theres quite a bit of a chance you'll be disappointed.
After using S60 I miss WM, and with all its quirks its an amazing OS even without all the gimmicky UIs around
