GERMANY 2 - 0 SWEDEN

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4991466.stm

"Helped by a lightning start, the hosts produced a magnificent display of attacking football to brush past a disappointing Sweden team. Germany looked the more impressive side even when all 22 players were still on the field, but once Lucic departed there was no way back for the Swedes, for whom Larsson's penalty miss merely rubbed salt in the wounds."

ARGENTINA 2 - 1 MEXICO

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4991492.stm

"It took a world-class goal to separate these two in an otherwise evenly balanced game. The win sets up a mouth-watering clash between the South Americans and Germany in Berlin on Friday."

ENGLAND 1 - 0 ECUADOR

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4991536.stm

"It was a controlled performance from England which took them to the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup. Beckham's strike proved enough to settle a game of few chances against an Ecuador team who seemed to lack the belief to seriously threaten the opposition goal."

PORTUGAL 1 - 0 HOLLAND

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4991538.stm

"As the disappointed Dutch embark on their short journey home, Portugal are into the quarter-finals for only the second time in their history where they will meet England. The two sides met back in the semi-finals in 1966 and England emerged victorious en route to their only ever FIFA World Cup title."

ITALY 1 - 0 AUSTRALIA

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4991534.stm

"Heartbreak for an Australia side who produced one of their best performances on the international stage. But credit to Italy who for standing firm when down to ten men for the majority of the second half."

SWITZERLAND 0 - 3 UKRAINE (P)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4991532.stm

"After a game where penalties provided the only real drama of the night, Ukraine moved through to the quarter-finals on their first visit to the FIFA World Cup. Switzerland were left to contemplate whether a more adventurous approach would have kept them in the competition."

BRAZIL 3 - 0 GHANA

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4991528.stm

"Ghana failed to pull off the shock that the romantics may have been hoping for but they can be well satisfied with their performance at their first ever FIFA World Cup. Brazil, as most perhaps expected, won through on an afternoon where the world champions' finishing power was the difference between the teams."

SPAIN 1 - 3 FRANCE

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4991524.stm

"Answering their critics, France produced a fine all-round performance to set up an intriguing quarter-final against Brazil. Spain, who had shown so much promise in the group stage and taken the lead midway through the first half, pack their bags for home having once again flattered in a major tournament."

Sorry, I've just read the quotes and although I'm still using them, some of them do not really reveal or tell the game very well. Examples being - Italy's penalty was one of the worst refereeing decisions if not the worst this World Cup, and also although the Portugal vs Holland game was very entertaining lol, it was definately the dirtiest and most appalling game or this World Cup.
