Morning,
If O2 are saying July then this seems fairly plausible.
Fundamentally the software isn't that different to the P990 + bug fixes and if you look through the forums, lots of people are saying the R5 firmware for the P990 makes the device a lot more stable and usable.
Remember the P990 was a total replacement for the P910, going from UIQ2 to UIQ3, Symbian 7 to 9 ... everything was different, no backwards compatability, apps needed to be rewritten, etc ...
From a software point of view, the P1 is more bug fixing and polishing than revolutionary, so if

have finally got something a bit more stable then there's no reason to think they launch will be seriously delayed.
Of course I reserve the right to be proved wrong

August seems most likely
how come???
Because o2 thinks July is something that happens in August, and August in September and so on.
If o2 get it in July wouldn't it come out as unbranded/unlocked a few weeks before, June?

In Germany, the P1i will bei launched in then first week of August. This is said by a guy from S/// in
this video (it's in german).
According to him, the price will be 699€! This is very much, i think, it's around 100€ more than the rumored price.

Okey people, the last news I got today from my Sony Ericsson source is launch in Sweden week 30. That means the last weak in July and its decided.
He aslo said that his prototype of the P1i has been turned on for a whole month in a row without any restarts or error. Camera is exactly the same as K800 and the battery last much longer then the P990i.
Its really a stable software thats in it now, fast and reliable.
gaaah hope its week 30 soon....

Probably not with this phone. That keyboard is scaring off most straight people.
There are some rumours about

's
true follow-up to P990i. Eldar Murtazin brings this up in the
P1 review at mobile-review.com:
The real successor to the P990i is pending, with its release date rescheduled for the turn of 2007, beginning of 2007. The handset will carry the same RAM volume as the P1, yet will come with improved CPU speed and maintain flip. The design is reminiscent of the first four models of the series
User ares at my-symbian.com does also mention this in the
P990 firmware thread and he's claiming a separate source for his information.

then it's alot better i think
since we would see more UIQ phones this year than we did last year and so. with better RAM and more stable OS. yeas the keyboard is not so good, but learning new things is always better than sticking with the standards
