Doministry, brilliant?
Just look at the original photo. So much noise and oversharpeing even at low ISO:( It'a a little bit like 2011 xperia lineup, but somehow most of them are out of focus. Xperia P takes better shots. Mayve it's all due to different chipsets and some major cost cuts in late sony ericsson? But now its up to Sony to determine, if they want to sacrifice some of their camera sales and put much better picture processing into their 2013 lineup, or not. But Nokia, Apple, Samsung and others won't hesitate and will keep improving their cameras. Sony basically owns the cameraphone sensor business, but ot's a shame when others can squeeze much more from previous generation products than sony from their latest and greatest. On the other hand, I understand that this one runs on different chipsets and some problems need and can be ironed out with some future firmaware updates. It's probably a hard, transition period for Sony. Maybe from 2013 they will execute better? Just hope for some major improvement in Sony's picture processing, because HW is there.
Well even the person who conducted that comparison appreciated the quality of the T. And even some cheap compact cameras will seem unimpressive in front of the Pureview 808, T is just a smartphone. For what it is, the photos are very good.
As I said many times before:
I don't get excited with zooming in every possible photo and studying hair in somebody's nose.
I don't print big scale posters from camera photos either.
What matters the most is the quality of the picture as a whole in reasonable size,
and in this regard X T photos look great even compared to Nokia which has so much more tech behind it's camera.

Those shots by Xperia T look brilliant and they just loose detail to Nokia which obviously has much more pixels.
But - still those Xperia images are top notch.
That's why I ask - WHY those comparative shots on GSMArena are so terrible?!
Maybe GSMArena got a faulty unit ?
Another positive review

Just wrote to them today about it!
It's unbelievable that the charts look so bad when other photos look so good.
EDIT:
From Gizmodo's review:
"We thought the camera was a bit rubbish, as our first few batches of shots turned out rather poor. But it was a fluff issue. The recessed lens is an incredible fluff-sucking vortex that’ll soon assimilate entire pairs of your trousers, and is rather difficult to get in to clean out. So you might want to start packing a few cotton buds in your wallet to wipe it out before snapping anything important."
It may be the issue!

Nice phone Ricky D and Sony phones have best designs for sure. Them camera pics are fine to me not perfect but put up a good fight against the Nokia. The T pics just looked more paler colors.

Doministry, but there is no sense of going over 5 mpix then! But there is pinch zooming and people use it. Also looking at 100% crops makes it easier to compare. And sony looses big time there.

And I'm not comparing to Nokia N808, but IP4S or SGSIII. If these can produce noise free daylight shots, then why sony can't?

Xperia S already takes better photos than GS3/IP4s/5 so no doubt the T is better as well. Checkout PhoneArena shootout of XS, GS3.GS2, Iphone 4S.

Randomuser, doministry, are you on Sony's paylist or sth? Go to gsmarena and compare. Comparing multimegapixel photos on 1920x1080 screen without 100% zoom doesn't reveal the whole truth.
look at the ship in:
http://www.gsmarena.com/piccm[....]38&idPhone2=4899&idPhone3=4369
or grass in
http://www.gsmarena.com/piccm[....]38&idPhone2=4899&idPhone3=4369
YES, I'M A FRUSTRATED XPERIA NEO USER:(

Use your brain.
All other reviews show very good X T quality, compared or not.
As we discussed above - and as gizmodo pointed out - there may be problems with the fluff on the lens.
And that's why we/I think GSM may have faulty unit OR fluff problem when shooting this comparative charts.
I just don't believe this particular result when other shots don't show any of these problems.
GSMArena comparison shows basic problem with zooming.
And don't insult me boy with these stupid suggestions.

Using my brain allows me comparing what i see. The problem is persistent in 2011 xperia range and 2012 as well. I take loads of photos in the field with my neo and grass shots are full of black sharpening, like those from gsmarena comparision.
