So the Nexus 4 and the Optimus G are using different BIS sensors.
You have a link where can see that Optimus G doesn't have Sony BSI?
Just curious...

I would not post it without a link. The link is also in my previous post.

Some more details and good news for Sony.
LG and Samsung put OLED TVs on hold
http://www.whathifi.com/news/lg-and-samsung-put-oled-tvs-on-hold
-Contrast ratios are difficult to measure but Sony claims that photopic contrast (contrast measured under well lit conditions) is 3.5 times better than traditional and current LED backlit LCD TV panels.
-The 1.4 times better wide color gamut specification alludes to the benefits of being able to see more colors from the TV.
-But the biggest and badest specification difference in this display is the response time for video image processing. Sony claims that this Crystal LED TV is 10 times faster than what's out there right now. If that is true, there will be no motion lag, or jerky judder artifacts to speak of as well as incredible sports image processing.

Ain't have Money for that.
Well according to rumours the CLED sets are supposedly only gonna be $4000 (unlikely to be honest, more like $6000-8000 at best) which would significantly undercut the monstrously expensive OLEDS.
That's a hell lot expensive.

Bit off topic but the Nexus 4 was just announced, that hardware at that price! Will Sony follow this or do we still expect the same high prices? Are the prices of these components starting to come down or is it simply a Google strategy?
Sony can't follow this because Google sells Nexus devices near- or at-cost.

It's a completely brand new display tech that's supposedly better in every single way compared to current display techs... $4000 is a downright bargain when you consider how expensive new display technologies have always been. It's also an immense bargain when you compare it against similarly sized OLED displays and consider that large scale OLED TVs still seem to be a fair bit away from hitting mass produced volumes. Sony has a great opportunity with CLED, assuming the rumours about launch window and pricing are true, and assuming they can mass market it while other OLED manufacturers are floundering trying to perfect their tech.

Nanoco is a company which produces quantum dot materials. It's no secret that they have been collaborating with a major japanese corporation since 2009 as stated in their website. Are you suggesting that the Crystal LED is actually a nanocrystal technology? in other words quantum dot technology?
check out this post i made from april

My take on the bet is 6.9 million units btw.
Hey, nice to see ya! I read your other threads months ago and skim 'em every once in a while as I'm very hopeful about CLED.
Now the only thing that I don't think lines up is that in the articles by Nanoco, especially the one about procuding green QDs. Here's what it said:
The customer's intention is to combine the red and green quantum dots with blue LEDs to produce a highly efficient source of white light for multiple potential applications including backlighting for LCD displays and LED-based general lighting.
http://www.nanocotechnologies[....]or_Green_Quantum_Dots/342.aspx
It doesn't exactly sound like CLED there, but I suppose the quote could be off. It does certainly seem like it's pointing towards Sony being the customer in question and CLED being the tech it's being used for. I guess my next question is how well does this tech scale downwards? It seems like it can scale infinitely up if they're using the segmented display design that's been rumoured. I REALLY hope they can figure out a way to scale it down for practical use on phones and tablets as it'll blow OLED out of the water like it's apparently going to do on the TV front.
I just had a thought thought.... what if they eventually decide to replace movie theatre screens with CLED displays????
Picture it... a monsterous 40 foot screen entirely made from CLEDs. It could be an INSANELY high resolution, unless of course they build larger sized segments so that it can still be 8k UHD or something... the colours, the motion, and image quality would completely destroy anything currently in any theatres! Do away with projectors for good dangit!

I think that LG buy camera sensor package from Sony just like how Apple work on their own one.

Now here's my question about these rumours about Yuga having a glass rear... is this really a good thing? I've heard countless stories of the iPhones glass rear cracking and shattering, so unless this is a far better type of glass, isn't it possible that Yuga owners will run into the same problem? Personally I would probably prefer an aluminum of magnesium alloy body to a glass one... unless there's something I'm missing here.

For me its not a good idea. In addition to the potential problems you mentioned, the phone weight would increase a lot by using glass rear.

Just a reminder guys - I only posted the 7 million based on IDC data. It may be more than 7 million too. 2 more days left for the official figures to be released by Sony.
I personally think it should be more than 7, even 8+ as Q2 figures were mostly just Xperia S, U, Sola, P. Q3 includes Acro S and Go and few other phones which have done well. Also Forbes estimate for Sony Q3 is 8+ million units and 11 million units for Q4.
@vivftp
No, they just mention that AUO is now supplying LED panels to Sony. Crystal LED components Sony is sourcing from Nanoco technologies apparently.

Then, I'll go as far as 8.6 million units!
I think they did well this quarter considering that I see a lot of my friends who were once nokia fans switched to xperia.

@randomuser: More info from my sources in Lund regarding JB for S3 units. They are not running any JB on their devices as we speak, means no debugging at the moment and surely a later release than we might expect. Sad, but I believe Q1 is the time to expect it.
Oh no
Thanks for the info aurelius. Really appreciated.
